Craving for a good good read...

I am oh soooo craving for a good book. Wana buy Stephen King's horror short stories - 4 Past Midnight! Love short stories complied in a book coz my attention span can be pretty short at times and when it happens I can't resist leafing to the last page of the novel and peeked at the ending. Which is of course a definite no-no when you embark on a novel reading journey. But I just can't help it sometimes! hahaha

Stephen king's collection of Horror novels are my fave indeed. I have Skeleton Crew, Graveyard Shift (my fave in the collection), Different Seasons, Nightmares & Dreamscapes. They are my precious babies hahaha. Thrilling with elements of horror, the stories get you thinking on the most minute things you might have missed out while walking down the streets or having a cuppa. Chilly at times, some stories are capable of making my hair stand.

I can curl up in bed and forgo my meals at times when the stories get oh sooooooo engaging. The world of thrillers and horrors fascinates me to no end.

My all time fave is a book I bought when I was in secondary sch titled 'Whispers from the grave', it a mystery, thriller, time travelling all rolled into 1 book. The main theme revolves round how little an innoncent action we make has the great impact to change how everyone's life turns and twists. Great book that I have re-read countless times.

Losing myself in a bookstore delights me. You can always find me hanging out at the horror section pouring over Stephen King's novels for hours. I just love his stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bidding a sweet goodbye to July soon...

Phew, have yet arrived on another last week of the month. Personally, I felt that this particular week had moved on pretty fast. It was still a dreary moody monday and now its already thursday (with half the day gone by behind) and tomorrow's FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!

Lotsa things I wana do over the weekend but I don't think I'll be able to accomplish much coz I'll be out almost the whole day on saturday (will be at the National Stadium (before it gets torn down) watching the NDP 2006 preview, and usually I turn to mush on Sunday haha... Must try to get some things done but as we all know and have encountered: the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak (I hope a miracle will surface this weekend) :p

On tuesday after work (was at a Sentosa meeting till 8pm), me and my beloved other half went for dinner at this HK cafe just below Marina Sq. We have been there a couple of time and lurve the place. It is spacious with comfy seats and the prices are pretty reasonable.

The usually go for a late nite cuppa and toast over there and bill works out to less then 10 bucks! Perfect place that's won't damage your wallet anfd yet allows you to yak for hours. Best of all, the service staff upon seeing there's just 2 of you dinning will not refused you those long comfy cushion seats by the window or table (unlike SOME cafes).

Hope to go there for another late nite cuppa tomorrow! ^_^

I no longer watch much TV...

Interestingly, I used to be able to just sit on my sofa and stare at the goggle box for hours. Ony taking shorts breaks in between to dash to the toilet or grab some snacks and drink. Now I have problems sitting still for even an hour.

I was protective over the TV and often have arguments if anybody else wants to watch a show that is on the same timeslot as mine. I will rush home from school or stay up late to watch my drama serial and variety shows. But...

When anyone has a show that clashed with mine on TV, I just let him/her watch it. Staying out late in town with a particular variety show I used to chase feverently, going on soon? Nevermind, missing it will not matter much.

In fact my total TV watching/channel surfing time for a week is probably less than 4 hours! Compared to the past where I will die die sit infront of TV from 630pm to 11pm every weekday and more during the weekends!

Now I just prefer to chill in my room with my magazines, listening to my ipod, take a snooze or be out breathing fresh (or maybe not so fresh) air.

Does the TV still holds an attraction for me? Well, its grip is losing....

Turn it off~

Are you a Right or Left hander?

I am a left hander (considered a minority in the world of right handers majority) and interestingly I like being left handed.

When I was younger, I was shocked to learn that the rest of my family members are right handed. Curious I asked my mum and she jokingly mentioned that I was picked up from a rubbish dump (yeeah right).

When I got older, I heard from a friend on how she was born a left hander but due to some misconceptions people have about left handers, her uncle forced her to use he right hand. Now, she is pretty comfortable with both hands since she practised writing etc on the sly with her left hand.

Being a minority in the world of handiness, I have encountered minor and some major inconvencies of being a left hander. For example, when I was a newbie in my sec sch's table tennis club I was at loston how to swing and hold my bat since all my other friends are right handers. By chance my coach is a left hander so he understands my diffculties and the difference in playing between a left and right hander.

When I'm out, I got to be careful not to poke my elbows into the bowls or ribs of the person (who's a right hander) sitting on my left.

I also have the habit of writing my stuff sideaways till it can be pretty exagerrated. Many people have commented on the way (or direction) that I right with much amuse. Hahah...yeah, we left handers can write at such an angle, perfect for explaining and illustrating stuff to others haha

Happy to be a left hander I am ^_^

wHaT iS yOuR fEaR

fEar...

A four letter word that is more scary or merciless than any four lettered vulgarity.

Know what's my fear? I have lots and am sure you too.

Fear of heights
Yup, my knees go jelly and head wozzy when I'm high up. I came face to face with my fear of heights in 2 separate incidents a couple of years ago and am proud to proclaim that I overcame them to the best of my ability that I was shocked too.

Due to my inablity to swim at age 13, I was sent off to complusory swimming lessons by my secondary school (all pupils aged 13 have to attain at least the very basic beginner's level for swimming). I was extremely uncomfortable with the arrangements as prancing about in my swimsuit in a public pool isn't exactly the most enjoyable way to spend my after school hours (not to mention the fact I was more tubby at that time too).

So off to swimming class it was at Toa Payoh Swimming complex and luckily some of my fellow classmates were slated for the class too and they made the whole process a little much better :p

The lessons were all fine till one sweet day, my stern swimming coach decided to let EVERY student jump off the swimming board into a 4 metre deep pool. Hello, the deepest pool I had ever been at that time was a 1.6m pool and I am 1.59m tall.

My heart went cold and my knees turned into jelly. There was no escape to this. Before I could scream 'NoOoOoOoOooO", it was my turn. I stood on the board and looked into extremely deep and blue pool. Wow, I know how people who jump off blocks feel now. Closed to tears, I looked at my coach, my heart was silently pleading with him to let me off. Fat chance.

I think I stood at the swimming board for close to 10 minutes when my coach decided to give me a push into the realm of swimming depths. God, I thought I was going to die (keep in mind, I have not pass my swimming test yet and the only swimming stroke I knew was wading in the water).

I splashed into the water (down 4 metres) and prayed hard. The sunlight above seems sooooo far. And then it happened.

To my surprise, I started floating straight up to the top within seconds. I need not even move my hands or legs much! I was stunned. When my head reached the top, I managed to swim (at least make it look like swimming) and got out of the pool. And frankly, after my survival I got hooked! The jump into the 4 metre pool was fun and exhilarating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would have never jumped if my coach did not give me the first push. Similarily in life, we all sometimes need a little push from others to get started on things or to reeve up our engines for better things to come in the future.

Fear of the unknown (out of your comfort zone)
I was sent for complusory OBS (Outward Bound School) when I was in Sec 3. Together with my class and some other sec 3 classes, we had to camp at pulau ubin for 5 days and 4 nights.

I was homesick on the first few days coupled with an unpleasant kayaking experience on the second day (I was like getting seasick in the 7 hour kayaking, muddy and dirty due to a low tide encounter and my partner and I were far far behind the other kayaks in a race) made me close to the tears. The distant sight of Singapore draped in cosy bright lights did not help.

Thank god, our kayaking skills (and luck) improved the next day and we were ahead of many other boats. No more sea sickness too! Kayaking out into the big sea was harrowing experience as the sea is deep beyond any swimming pool but I was amazed by my bravery to go kayaking (also forced since EVERYONE had to kayak).

My camp mates and I also had to sleep in stuffy tents with our thin sweaters etc as pillows and one particular night in duno what island, there were big stray mongrel dogs running around our tents. We thought they would crash our tents and bite us. Thankfully, the night passed on peacefully.

Due to lack of fresh water while trekking around the islands, we had to strap on heaving haversacks and big bottles of water. I think each and everyone of us had to endure a 2 kg weight upon us as we moved along. Meals were rationed and I never knew instant noodles tasted soooo good.

The flying fox was another surprise to me. Being hung up in the air higher than 4 metres and yet I was craving for a higher height? I knew my fear of heights had somewhat diminshed. The swoosh and free feeling of the wind against my face was undescribable. I hope to get on it again!

The camp came to an end soon and we were given a certificate. I am darn proud of it. Imagine all the stuff I never knew I could endure or overcome were present in OBS and I walked out of it aliving and kicking (except I got a bad sun burn from the 7 hours kayaking such that my bro could not recognise me).

Yes, you Can face up to your fears and kick its ass!

Face your fear or this? ------->

Do you jaywalk?

I guess 99.9% of Singaporean do. Just look the roads near your neighbourhood, your office etc, there's always people jaywalking every minute (or second).

Do I jaywalk? Yup but I do keep an eye out for oncoming cars (and mst importantly TP). Usually when I am in a rush and late for something important, if not I am pretty cool waiting for the green man to light up.

It amazes me that how jaywalking has become a univeral 'crime' committed worldwide on an increasing rate and done shamelessly. Some people even think its cool or brave to jaywalk?! Unbelieveable. Yes, it is dangerous but still we all do it.

Why???? Maybe it is the only form rebellion we can commit without being sent to the gallows? Just how many people get away scot-free from jaywalking everyday? More than your fingers and toes put together can count I bet.

It is ironic with the numerous traffic lights and overhead bridges we have in Singapore. We will STILL jaywalk with a traffic light less than 100 metres infront of us or even while crossing the traffic light while the red man is on.

There's this 2-way street near my blk which used to 'free-crossing' as in no traffic lights or bridges constructed. It was pretty dangerous as we had to judge when an oncoming car is coming and if it is driving too fast etc. People were complaining about it and wished for traffic constructions.

Hey presto, last yr a traffic light was constructed and you know what? People start jaywalking coz they comment that the traffic lights took a long time to turn green and the 2-way street doesn't have much cars driving through it except for peak hours. Okkkayyyy... hmmmmmmmmm Singaporeans are a hard to please bunch I suppose.

Anyway, it's better keep our eyes alert while we cross... The roads are like a tiger's mouth as a chinese saying goes...

<--- Cute! A really walking green man!

I love to go grocery shopping on a lazy weekend afternoon.

The countless shelves stocked up with countless household, beverage, food items etc gives me an adreline high ala playing a sport (exaggerating here :p) Aisle after aisle, turn after turn and the cool air con comfort just add points to the whole experience.

I can spend hours in there!

My fave section has got to be the food section. There are so many! Ranging from yummi cereals packed into cute boxes (I luv POST Cereals' Waffles Crisps), chocolates of all kinds (adore rocher with its chocolatey centre and nuts covered exterior), sweets of all sizes, shapes and colurs ( head over hells for mints!), crunchy chips ( Ruffles drenched in masterbbq sauce wins hands down for me), ice cream ( can eat a tub of B&J's Strawberry Cheesecake by myself in a sitting) and oh sooooo many more that will turn this blog entry into a massive novel.

Am also intrigued by all the various household and cleaning products on the market, all claiming to be the most powerful in ridding stains under X seconds, so many scents and texture. Kudos to all the marketing and brains behind the stuff to make our lives a little much easier :p

Well, the only thing I hate when I go grocery shopping is the snaking queue at the cashiers. Weekends are the probably the only times busy working families get to do their grocery and carts after carts full are present slowly shuffling in the cashier queue. That is quite a put off at times but if I'm with someone, at least I can talk the time away...

Which reminds me that I need to get some milk to re-stock in the fridge....

Tick tock tick tock...

I can't do without watches. I need my watch on my wrist when I am out even though my mobile tells the time accurately.

I started wearing my 1st watch when I was in primary school and have not looked back since. Still remember it was a slender black leather watch with a gold rimmed white face. An analogue watch to be precise. I had it for 2 years before the strap got worn out and gave up on me.

Ever since, I had a Baby G in baby blue watch, numerous Swatches, a 24 hour watch, 1 seiko watch, 2 elle and more i hope to add to my collection.

If I ever absent mindedly forgot to put on my trusty watch, I'll by habit look at my wrist for the time only to realise that I had forgotten to strap it on... Feel empty without it.

My penchant for watches (or should I say design and style) often trigger of laughter from my beloved half. He is amused by my adoration for men watches ( I think they look so cool). I lurve BIG watches and metal steel straps. Dainty and slim watches are not really my style but there are some exceptions (like my trusty for years elle watch).

Analogue or digital? Analogue without any doubts. Do not ask me why coz I also do not know. Maybe its just an innate inclination.

By habit, I set all my watches 10 minutes ahead of time so that most of the time I will not be late. Even my alarm clocks at home are set 10 minutes fast. I feel insecure with an accurate setting as I am panaroid about being late and relish knowing that I still have 10 minutes to spare when I reach an appointed venue.

It is my dream and my beloved to be able to afford a glass display with watches bought from all parts of the world. Each intricately made and limited edition. It will be our own private and exclusive collection (expensive too).

Besides, watches are a timeless fashion accessory. Capable of changing the tone of mood of one's dressing. Strap on a classic black metal watch for a formal meeting, a funky and bright coloured sport watch for a casual day out town or the beach or a slender ribboned watch for a ladies nite out. Watches make a statement and paly a part in the image you want to present to others.

So many brands with watches made up of real diamods at luxury boutiques. My fave brand at the moment is swatch coz of their extensive range of quirky, smart, sporty and casual watches. The prices aren't too bad too.

Shall spy with my little eye on the time now...My wrist's itching for a new accessory mate :p

Was at newton circus on Sunday...

The newly renovated Newton Circus food centre... And boy was it packed (not to mention I was there during the peak dinner hour)! Every table was occupied and almost every table (especially those where the occupants are finishing up their last morsel of bbq sting ray etc) had an individual and partner hovering to sit their butts and bags down.

What you will see at newton doused in lotsa chilli!

Me and my beloved half were bombarded with the bustling sights of so many stalls that we did not know which to buy from (as you can tell we are not exactly regulars there). A couple of stall hawkers were asking us to buy food from them (Excuse me, no table even to sit, how to eat??).

Almost giving up hope and thinking we made the wrong choice to have our dinner there, our saviour descended upon us in the form of an uncle from a nearby bbq seafood stall. He offered (and many others later, as we observed) to help us get a seat somewhere (he did not say it but of course in exchange for getting us a table, we got to buy bbq seafood from him. A tactic used by many other stall hawkers when we observed longer).

Increduously, he managed to find us a pretty good table where it wasn't too hot or stuffy and pretty windy with the wind blowing (except our empty paper plates keep flying off and got to paper weight em down)within 5 minutes.

Gotten a table, ordered and tucked into spicy and yummi bbq stingray, kang kong, chicken wings, fragrant white rice and refreshing sugar cane juice. Yummi tummy it was.

Although the experience wasn't half bad on sunday (a trip to the temp newton circus was worse, a too-pid stall hawker keep on haunting us to buy her stall's bbq seafood when we politely rejected her. We had to show her a black face before she backed down. Over persistant to the point of losing business, if you ask me), I feel lost at Newtom circus... Maybe coz its too big or maybe coz I am bias towards Chomp Chomp.

Chomp Chomp reigns far up higher in my heart. I love its cosy feel and I do not need to walk sooooooo far from one end to another as like Newton. The stall where I order my food is dependent on where I sit.

Miss the place... Wana go Chomp Chomp soon and chomp on the goodies there... *drool*

<--- Beauty quick fix when you have no time!

Just went down to the nearby Watsons near my workplace after lunch as there were some spare time to stroll away. Am always amazed by the shelf after shelf of beauty, body, cosmetic products for both genders on display.

So many brands at affordable prices. How do you know which is the best for you? With the tricky logic of individual preference and genes, what works great on a friend might not spell the same for you.

Plus packaging and attractive catchy words sure weave an irresistable lure on the shopper. Picture this:

A pearly pink and slim bottle plastered with a gorgeous model on the front with picture perfect face and figure. Awww so pretty, I wana be like her too. Caption: Get FLAWLESS, RADIANT and SUPPLE skin with XXX's REVLOUTIONARY Wrinkle GLOW skin combat cream that GUARANTEES to SMOOTH out your wrinkles in 7 DAYS!

Note the cap & bold words : crucial words to sell the product; fast results and skin that is faultless. Who doesn't want that? And selling at just within 30 bucks compared to luxury brands that sell at 10 times more and promising the same results? I'll be hooked :p

I am pretty self conscious of my looks at times and love pampering my skin twice weekly (who doesn't?). Especially with age catching up, the hectic work pace, concrete urban pollution (from the exhaust of cars, rain, sun), fellow human pollution (getting smoke puffed into your face and hair etc), and billions or zillions of germs and bacteria that are invisiable to the naked eye threatening to ravage my skin and health. Just the thought of it makes me wanna wash my face now (too bad now working)!

My daily skin care regime involves a basic cleanser to wash away oil, dirt and prevent pimples, pimple cream to dry up the offending offenders, hydrating eye cream to combat dark eye circles when I stay up and a moisturiser to flood my face and neck. If I am going out, a PA 50+++ sunscreen is essential.

The twice weekly pampering regimes involves a 5 minute scrub (get rid of skin-dulling old skin cells), nose mask to purge stubborn black heads and a vit c enriched mask to inject nutritious nutrients into my skin. Washed off after 10 mins and apply hydrating moisturiser.

A pretty stress-relieving session if you ask me.

Thank god for stores like Watsons and Guardian peppered everywhere from town to my neighbourhood. I can re-stock or try out new masks easily. And the prices aren't jaw dropping either.

So much on my beauty regime :p

Anyone got a good face mask to recommend? :)

I am soooo happi! Whisky has learnt how to shake hand with his left paw!

Those yummi treats realli do work. Used to try to teach him to 'shake hand' with those little balls of milk biscuits but didn't work even after finishing the whole packet.

But on thursday, I opened this packet of multi coloured treat of different flavours and repeated the teachings to him. By yesterday he knows when and how to 'shake hand'!

So cute. Many thanks to my mum too for her patience and ability to resist feeding him those treats when he refused to lift his paw up.

I am soooooooo proud of him! The treats that did the work! -->

I for sure LIVE to EAT. There so many stuff out there that I absoutely love to binge on 24/7 but due to the mental image of a an extremely obese and unhealthy person I will transform into holds me back.

Music, what will I do without you?

I had fallen in luv with music since I was in pri sch and it has been my faithful companion since then. Many of us can't do without music as it fills the silence in the air beautifully.

Thank heavens for MP3 players ( technology has its pros at times), gone are the days where I have to painstakingly rewind or fast forward my walkman just to get to the exact opening of a song. With just a simple push of the button or tap on the clickwheel, I can jump from song to song with ease.

No more worries of casette tapes turning moudly over the years or the stuff in them getting stuck and torn while being played. Thanks heavens.

With over 100 songs and still counting, my playlist keeps me occupied and transports me into different realm (of daydreams) while I am stuck in the train or a bus. Music makes time pass faster and my steps lighter indeed.

I especially lurve listening to my player and turn the volume up during the dead of the night where everyone's asleep or hudled under their comfy blankets. The still of the night makes the songs come alive and you gain a deeper understanding or perspective that the singer or song writer is trying to put across in the song.

No techno for me though, makes my head spin the moment I hear it. :p

I soooo want to learn to the keyboard. I think its a great de-stresser and help to soothe one's temper. Although I cant really figure out those beansprouty notes... Must start saving $$ for it. :p

Its a wonder with how songs can sometimes so aptly describe a particular feeling you are experiencing. Be it chinese, english, jap, korean or other languages, music is universal in its appeal.

Some of my fave classic songs replayed a million times and I won't get sick of 'em.

My Faves (in no order of preference)

1. Truly, Madly, Deeply by Savage Garden
2. I'll Be There by Escape Club
3. Right Here Waiting by Richard Marx
4. Numb by Linkin Park
5. Endless Love by H.O.T
6. Wo Nan Guo by 5566
7. True by Ryan Cabera
8. First Love by Utada Hikaru

Listening to my ipod now :)

Do YoU dReAm?

Do you believe in dreams?

I used to have the same recurring dreams when I was teen. These 2 situations often manifest in my dreams and I always wonder what's the significance or is it just a coincidence?

Recurring Dream 1: I would dream of myself hugging/ dragging/lugging my smely bolster down town, along the roadside and even in class. It was soooooooo embarrassing and I cant describe the immense amount of relief I felt when I realised it was just a dream.

Had I gotten too attached to my bolster or does it represent my insecurities that I never knew I had?

Recurring Dream 2: Being stuck mid-way or had no choice but to cross a shakey/made of rope with lots of holes/ totally unstable overhead bridge. I will be crying, crawling and trembling in my dream. Dying to get across yet lack the courage at times.

Does it signify my fear of heights or also an insecurity? I used to have a slight phobia of crossing overhead bridges and going down escalators.

When you dream of deceased loved ones, it is because they have really come to visit you in your dreams since we cant see them in real life? Or is because we think too much of them and hence dream of them? Yet, the idea of thinking of something or someone feverntly so as to conjure 'em in dreams proved futile at times. To cheem to really decipher what's right...

I too dreamt of running away from some killer, falling down and waking up in a shock and sometimes a night filled with dreams leave more tired than ever. A dreamless night can be pretty restful.

All i know is to never sleep on a fully tummy or you will be plagued by bad dreams...No more heavy supper for me :p

sLeEp AwAy!

zZzZzZzZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Sleep, sleep, sleep, I am so in lurve with sleeping.

I can sleep anytime! Be it in the morning, afternoon or night, I would gladly love to snuggle up and hit the sack.

In school, I used to sneak in a little shut eye during lecutures or class by casually rubbing my eyes hence givin 'em some precious seconds of sleep. Though I never dared to sleep openly (once this guy in front of me in the lecture theatre had plopped his head on the table and sleep openly with his mouth ajar; not a pretty sight), I devised means and ways to catch a short (better than nothing) snooze.

Can anyone also enlighten me on the immense temptation to sleep after lunch? Is it really coz of my full tummy? I would be dying to sleep the afternoon away and sought after a hot cuppa coffee to keep my brain awake (which is futile at times as my immunity to coffee is unpredictable at times).

The best time to sleep? The afternoon. Maybe is the heat or what but I am usually in bed in the afternoon around 2pm when I get off from school during my sec sch days (no wonder my friends were commenting how fast I step out of the sch gate once the bell rings to end sch :p)

I hate getting up in the mornings and catching sight of my bro (a heavy sleeper who needs a manual alarm clock aka my mum to wake him up in the mornings for sch) in bed and sleeping blissfully. It makes me go green with envy. Wish I could swap places with him on those mornings when he can sleep in...

Arrghhh....

Some of my sleeping habits:

1) I cannot have people talking around me when I am going to doze off. I bunked in once with my cousins and their incessant chatting kept me away from sweet sweet dreamland.

2) I need to sleep sideways on my tummy. When I was hospitalised for a surgery, the wound prevented me from sleeping the usual way and I had to sleep straight on my back the WHOLE nite. Darn, it was a torture!

Bet you too have your own sleeping habits too, doncha? :p

Do you know our cells repair 'emselves from around 11pm to 2am? That's the crucial timing for us to be in dreamland and to get our beauty sleep. So try to pop yourself into bed by then, if not it will be a sleep well wasted.

NoW yOu SeE iT, nOw YoU dOn'T

It is amazing....

Time flies at supersonic speed. It feels as if it was just yesterday that I was crying madly and holding on to my mum's hand in kindergarten. It feels as if it was just last week, I went out with my late dad to the park to fish. It feels as it was just a couple of days ago that I received my PSLE results. Time & tide waits for no man (or woman). Everyone can testify to that. I still remember vividly of the time I was on bus no. 13 travelling to my sec sch when I was in sec 1. I was pondering on the 4 looong years I had ahead of me in sec sch. Taking the same bus to sch, watching the same scenery roll by every morning and afternoon. Before I knew it, I had graduated, moved on to JC, got my degree and entered the working life. Heck, it just zoomed by in a flash.

To be exact it has been 10 years since that ponder!

Can't afford to let my watch fly, I spent a bomb on it :p -->

Before I know it, I will be hitting the BIG 30! Day after day, week after week, month after month and year after year, time seems to be moving faster these days. Is it just me or is it due to the hectic work life, day and night time seem to last much shorter? 24 hours isn't sufficient anymore.

The weekdays pass us by unknowingly and the weekends are even more sly. Any ways I can slow TIME down?

"Singapore is soooooo boring, there's no where to go!"

Yes, I suppose you and I have made the above comments before. Lament, lament, lament, we did.

Shopping is an integral part of our lives, most of time we spend our leisure hours shopping, chilling or people watching in town. Orchard, Bugis, Suntec, Marina Square, the major shopping belts and hubs in Singapore. These places are always packed to the brim especially on the weekends. People of all shapes and sizes walking fast or strolling along with snazzy mobiles in hand, branded bags and carriers. The music of heels clicking and banter fill the air wherever shops stand.

I myself have cultivated the habit of rotating the above places when I am out. Popular choices and the place TO BE seen at, who could blame me or my friends suggesting it? But still, on some days I would prefer to stay miles away and just chill at home. It gets pretty boring and senseless to go down to town when you have no vit M and sit around listlessly. I rather be at the coffeeshops near my place having a cheap cuppa or just lazing at home pigging out in front of the telly. Saves me tons of tranport cost and perspiration. Haha :p

When the crowds are out in full force, I start to get giddy and everything seems to heat up. Yuck, I hate it. I hate getting stuck in a jam, I hate getting home in the wee hours and spending unncessary $ on cabs, I hate staying awake in town when I am really shutting down. I just hate it.

Just can't understand how some people can actually spend their lives hanging around town day after day idling. That sucks. Go get a life pleassseee....

Where have all the good horror shows/movies gone to?

The market now is soooo saturated with B-grade horror movies that are trying to spook viewers to fork out their hard earned cash and milking the same old horror moves.

A typical horror movie has to have these elements:

1) A pale looking child with horrifying dark eye circles (yes, the most horrifying part is those awfully dark eye circles)

2) A pale lanky woman with jet black long hair covering her face that you are unable to distinguish her features except for a pair or single bloodshot eye/s

3) Loud booms/sounds to shock the audience before a ghoul makes a ghastly appearance. (Right, the sound warned me and hence am no longer shocked actually)

4) The ghouls crawl and no longer drift

Reused and reused over and over again. It is puke-inducing I tell you. Many of the Jap or korean horror movies show the most scariest parts during the trailers *rolls eyes*

In fact, shows like "A tale of 2 sisters", "Acacia Tree" etc aren't scary at all. They can be pretty head scratching at times and in general the ghoul has a pitful story behind it hence making you go all soft, mushy and sorry for it. Oh, she/he was forced to take revenge coz the living made life a living hell for her/him when she/he was alive... awwwwwwwwww~ Where's the horror?

The most classic horror shows still remain unbeatable in my heart:

1) The Exorcist (How could I forget the bed spinning, green pea vomit and horrendous voice)

2) Ju-on - The Grudge (Terribly good that it prequel that I watched it thrice during mid-nite in the cinemas)

3) The Ring (Sadako was scaringly fantastic, the music was oh so chilling & the hair combing scene was a killer)

I too particularly miss the old days where Ch5 used to show werewolves etc horror shows on telly on tues nites. Those were damn good! I was scared stiff by freddy of nightmare on elm street *shudder*. Those beastly and hairy werewolves who could tear a 6 foot man into shreds *ewwwww*

And I also relish the thrill I get from scaring myself silly in the cinemas. I lurrve to harbour thoughts that I am sooo safely bundled up in the cinema while a victim gets spooked to death by a ghoul. It makes me feel.... fortunate :p

Till the next batch of horror movies descend upon the cinema screens, I think I will re-watch the classic horror shows at home... woOoOoOOoO~

HOT HOT HOT!!!!!!!!!!!

What the FREAKING HELL is wrong with the weather?

I feel as if my skin is sizzling everytime I just step out for a mere 5 mins. After 10 minutes, my face turns red and my perspiration glands will be on overdrive. I bet smoke will have emitted from my bod if the temp rises another few more notches up... sssSSSsss

It is terrible and unbearable. Every morning to work, I need a 5 to 10 minutes walk to the nearest MRT station in this sweltering heat. By the time I arrive (with much regret, the MRT station is not air-conditioned; envy you if yours is) I will have beads of perspiration lolling down my back, chest and face. So unsightly and yucky. Bid sweet goodbye to the morning bath I had before work.

Worst still if the train's air-con is performing below expectation and the train is crammed full with people. People equally hot and all perspiring at speed limits. The air is stuffy and you can practically see the hot air emitted from the squashed bodies of the passengers. And someone farts *rolls eyes*

In fact, it has gotten so hot that I just want to stay home and chill. Stepping outdoors has become soooooooo unappealing in the heat.

I wish in this heat I can:

- Soak myself in bathtub filled with crushed ice and cool cool water

- Drink a tall glass of milo peng

- Have all the walkways (or maybe the whole of Singapore) encapsulated in cool air-con comfort

- Have someone to bring me my every drink, tissue, meal etc without lifting a finger or foot

- Indulge in B&J Strawberry Cheesecake infront of the telly watching National Geographic in Antartica

I WISH~~~~~~~

MRT mAnNerS

I lurve taking the train.

It is fast, spacious and efficient. I can get to town under 20 minutes compared to a bus ride of 40 minutes. Shaving off half the time! And there's no peak hour jams to worry about or vomit-induced jerks to be wary of.

BUT some MRT passengers aren't that likeable at all. In fact they are an IRRITAING, KIAM PAK (deserving a bash on the face) BUNCH!

In my over 20 years of MRT travelling portfolio, I have come across many such passengers who believed that they have paid more their share of transport fees compared to others. And I am sure, you have encountered such uncouth species before too.

The spineless: The spineless relish coiling themselves round the steel handles/poles that many other passengers who have a poor sense of balance (aka me) need to grip on to remain firm footed to the ground. The spineless leave no steel poles untouched and many too just lean whole-heartedly with their backs back-to-back to the pole. Excuse me, HOW IN THE WORLD AM I GOING TO HOLD ONTO THE POLE??!! The spineless are also pretty immune to strange fingers dugging behind their backs or into their flesh. Sorry, I have no choice since the spineless have attached themselves to the pole and I AM NOT GOING TO GO POLELESS AND FALL FLAT ON MY FACE DURING MY RIDE ON THE TRAIN. Some spineless even have the nerve to give me an accusing look when they feel my fingers behind their backs. It is soooooooooo pushing my blood pressure up!

The avid newspaper reader (ANR): Acutually, I have nothing against this species of MRT riders coz I too love engaging in the latest updates (aka gossips) that is happening in Singpore and abroad. But the line is crossed when the train is packed FULL with people separated by just a mere little finger spacing. The ANR can just spread out their newspapers and other innocent fellow passengers-who-will-read-when-train-is-less-crowded get the papers being poked, brushed and tickled against their face, chest, and god-knows-where dependent on the height of the ANR. TERRIBLE BREED THEY ARE! I do not exactly luv the scent of newspapers pleaseeeee!

The seat grabber: this bunch of extremely gan-chiong (anxious aka kaisu) peeps have their eagled-eyes on alert in the crowdest train. When a potentially going to be emptied seat is in sight, they will zoom upon it like a bald vulture see a fat rat. And remind you, they are neither the elderly or preggers. Take for instance an incident I sighted of such an attack. This particular lady in her early thirties was about to alight. With only her butt leaving inches from her seat, this extremely rude uncle just shoved her off and sat his big butt firmly on the seat. God, she was sooo taken aback and glared at him angrily while saying: "Excuse me uncle, can't you wait for me to get off the seat properly before you sit down?" The seat grabber remained oblivious to her comment as if he was tone deaf (sooooo thick skinned he was).

I-must-go-through-the-door-first peeps: This bunch will not heed the yellow markings labelled on the platform. Neither are they courteous at all. When a train is approaching, they will take root in the centre of door and pushed their way in without letting other passengers alight first. Their strength is pretty formidable and I have witnessed alighting passengers getting pushed back into the train. Sad but it's real.

I luv the MRT but I oh so hate the above breed of passengers. SHAME ON YOU!
