Cab AnTiCs

My cab almost drove off without me.

Knocked off pretty late ydae and called for 2 cabs home with a colleague. Went down to my office building's main entrance and waited.

5 minutes later, one cab came and my colleague got on it. Then less than a minute later, mine came.

Except...

the uncle DID NOT see me. -_-III

He just drove straight to the end of the road while I panicked.

Then he did a u-turn and halted his cab a distance away.

By then I was flunging my arms like a mad woman trying to capture his attention. A random stranger caught the comical sight and smiled. Feeling like some kinda fool, I ran-walked to my 'lost' cab and hopped in.

The uncle said it was too dark and he can't see me.

Maybe I should wear some luminous lime green outfit so cab drivers can see mi the next time I called for cab when the sun sets.

Then the CTE had to jam up.

And talked non stop to the cab driver who was imparting 'how-to-not-let-other-people-snatch-your-on-call-cab' techniques.

EASt MiSsIoN

Made a trip down to the East side of Singapore on an extremely sunny Saturday.

The temperature was absolutely sizzling. I could almost feel my skin burning like bak gwa with charred strands of hair. -_-III

The intial plan was to go to Parkway Parade n jalan jalan, to east coast park for a breeze and to katong for laksa.

We went for our laksa lunch first since tummies were rumbling, slurped all the lemak goodness to the last drop and chanced by this nyonya shop and went on a oneh oneh buying rampage (it was yummi). Strolled over the East Coast Park where an ardous journey on foot to the other end of the Fisherman Village caused my toes to cramp up and calves to scream sorenesss from every pore.

Finally reached our destination and waited for ages for an empty table. Shared with a friendly ah pek n his wife who chatted freely on everything from the Singapore Flyer to the BKK airport closure. While his wife went to buy the fame satay bee hoon with a snaking queue.

Tucked in to satay, oyster omelette and the like and concluded we love Chomp Chomp more *wink*

By the time we finished our food it was past 8pm and time to trek back to the starting pt of East Coast Park. Along the way, we sighted a stray kitty getting 'terrorised' by a mum and her young daughter in tow. The mum had a toy gun which goes 'bang bang' with every trigger pulled of the gun. The poor kitty was terrified and I am greatly pissed by the action of the mum.

She is definitey not setting a gd example to her young daughter. Goodness, I wish she would be incarnated into a roach in her next lifetime.

Fast foward to the urban crowd at PP and took a bus back to home.

Sibeh shagged.

How wAS yOuR x'mAs?

It's a simple and quiet X'mas affair.

Maybe I am dated.

Maybe I am old.

I have since preferred to spend my X'mas with loved ones away from the jostle and merry making crowds in town and assorted places.

No longer do I hanker to hang out in Orchard Road rubbing shoulders with fellow revellers trawling Wisma Atria underground passages and the like. In fact moi was in Orchard for minutes ydae to collect stuff from Dior, only to face the horrifying crowd out in full force. Made a quick exit before me and the BF got swallowed up.

Here is my X'mas happenings (not in any particular order):

Tucked into good ole Teochew style bak chor mee at Chinatown

Dine at Jack's Place in the company of bloody Rib-eye and marble cheesecake (it was damn good).

Fell asleep at Merchant Court's lobby amidst comfy sofas and lush spotlights (thankfully no drools were sighted)

Giggled over the sight of an uncle and his wife striking poses with the big green plant at Merchant's lobby, X'mas fake flowers and lamps.

Drooled over Market Cafe's buffet and made a New Year resolution to go there asap.

How was your X'mas?

Be CaReFuL oF wHat U WoRe

Saw this in the papers a couple of days ago.

I lad was stopped by the police to take a breath analyser test.

There was a pic with the lad's face mosaiced. He wore a green tee. And this was the slogan shouting from his seemingly harmless tee:

Rules do not apply to me.

Right.

The bro is nursing a persistent cough. Hacking thru the nite till like 2am and keeping mi awake till his coughing fit ceases (but I dun blame him lah). Except he loves to hack like as though he is gg to cough the whole flat off.

I can't slp.

for ThE bEST and WorsT

A union of 2 brings about many unforseen situations both pleasant and unpleasant in nature.

Sometimes, it's better to take more time to understand and know more of each other before taking the next big step.

Having said that, it takes two hands to clap. Any problems encountered, parties involved should try to reach a consenus and if persistent efforts fall on deaf ears, probably u need to re-evalute your worth in the r/s and if u deserve to hang on or if the parties involved are worth any further of your time.

Take heart :)

BuFfEt

Pariss Buffet...

was there again (same place, same location) after like more than 3 years. The last and first time I was there was when I was with the co-which-ate-my-cpf-$. The boss had treated us to a lunch over there.

I stil rem I had lots of grilled shisamo and croc soup.

After much carjolling to the BF, we tried the food there again. There was like oysters, sashimi, chilli n black pepper crabs, grilled meat etc. Quite a spread but a lil pricy st $47 per pax on a weekend dinner.

All in all, it was so-so. Would still prefer to stuffed my face at hanabi or minori :D

Say IChIbAn!

Nice sushi!

Say moshi moshi to Ichiban Boshi! A yummi place for sushi lovers on a budget. Uncovered this lovely gem of a place (the outlet at Great World City) during a lunch time with colleagues. Offering a gd variety at $2.10 per plate, the lobster salad and abalone salad sushi are fanastic!

Chawanmushi - something which I gotta have everytime I am dining at a jap place, was absoutely delicious! Pipping hot with a chunk of chicken meat, gingko nut and jap fishcake, the taste was eggishly delicate.

*slurp*

Plus, the Great World City outlet has a lovely ambience to boot!

Try it out! They have outlets at suntec etc too :D

WhEN wAS tHE LAst tiMe u RaN?

Knew a friend who's going for the Standard Chartered marathon this coming Sunday.

Was suddenly hit by the realisation:

When was the last time I ran?

Well... *thinks hard*

Probably a few months back when the bf was hit by a bout of 'lets-keep-fit-frenzy'. We decided to put on our dusty track shoes (which reminds mi if I wanna get my adidas shoes) and hit the stadium tracks at yck.

Disilluisoned by the fact that I could run 6 rounds in under 15mins when I was like 18, I actually bet that I could make it 6 rounds in the same timing even though I am like a couple of years older and probably a few pounds heavier and have not done NAPFA tests for years.

All pumped up, we set off on a slow run at individual pace.

1st round - feeling great ala some fantastic kenya sprinter
2nd round - legs feel weak, gasping for air but still carried on
3rd round - felt all the blood and oxygen sucked outta me. Legs aching and sides splitting

The tot-I-was-gonna-die me then gave up and went to sit at the podium while nursing my oxygen fatigue bod.

What a loser I am lah.

The BF was still running and managed to surpass the number of rounds he had planned.

What a champion he was.

Goodness, I couldn't believe I could not hit 6 rounds???????

Suddenly, I miss NAPFA. It actually has it's pros of making u fitter. Remember all the sit-ups/sit n reach/standing broad jump/inclined pull-ups/2.4km run? I used to train for my NAPFA climbing up the stairs to my unit on the 10th floor. And frankly it works to build my stamina.

Now sometimes when the damn lobby lift in my office building is jammed up with ppl, I take to the stairs to climb like 5 flights and am already panting like a dog.

-_-III

I need to get fit again

BUT

the spirit is willing, alas the flesh is weak.

When was the last time u ran?

ThEsE bALLs Are YuMS!

Those Ikea meatballs are formidable.

Even though the queue at the restaurant was snaking close to the entrance, the BF and I still could not resist its lure.

The chicken wings are yummi too!

dREam A sCaRY dReAm

Dreamt of vampires n werewolves last nite.

The first scene started in my room where I was frantically trying to lock my room door so as to prevent those nitemarish creatures from invading my room and at the same time keeping the windows closed.

Strangely, the windows keep on opening by itself each time I closed it and moved to my door.

Keep on running to and fro from the window to the door while my heart almost popped outta my mouth.

Next the scene cut into some old factory where those vampires were chasing mi up the stairs and everywhere. None sank their teeth into mi, then I woke up to find my dog sleeping next to mi (occupying like 3/4 of my bed -_-III)

Had to admit I was pretty shaken after the dream and keep on hearing footsteps coming from duno where. Plus there was this auntie launching into a chinese song some floors down while taking her bath. -_-IIIIII

Think I ate too much too late last night.

iT's tiMe

It's Dec~~

Time sure flies. We were just ushering in 2008 and now we are soon bidding a sweet farewell and embracing 2009.

Which also means I need to clear the massive pile of rubbish in my room and desk.

Lotsa lotsa papers.

Preloved and clothes and i never seem to get around wearing.

Cobwebs in some hidden corners.

Assorted items lying in every possible inch of the floor.

I tink I would make a very bad housewife :D
