XMas On FiLM

Post-Xmas Pics... (yah lah, damn late lah :p)

Headed down to the veri crowded (rolls eyes) VivoCity and took in the magnificant decor, lights and one very earnest photog. He was also most kissing the ground in a bid to capture a shot of the xmas tree reflected in a small puddle of rain water on the ground.

Anything's worth it for a good shot. Damn, I wish I have a SLR too :)

Vivo's beautiful xmas tree. I love it's reflection in the waters.

Sparkling motto below the tree. Lovely~The colour combi reminds mi of a choc and vanilla swiss roll... or maybe I'm juz hungry lah

Next: Raffles City Xmas Tree. Very huge and very bright :p

Forum shopping mall white reindeer. A sight to behold.

The crowd at Orchard. Spent Xmas there when I told myself I am NOT going there. *makes mental note to self not to say such things anymore*

The lighted grass deers outside Fullerton Hotel. Mi and the BF could not resist posing with the lil ones:

The BF.

Me.

And my very biting pair of flats. *sigh* why all my shoes got to bite my feet???????

FEast On

What a celebration...

This years X'mas has come and go and left mi probably a few pounds heavier -_-III

Here's what my expandable tummy has welcomed this merry festive season:

X'mas eve:
A simple affair of noodles... Totally unexpected of what's to come over the next 2 day.

****************************************************************************
X'mas:

My long awaited Hanabi dinner buffet. Being an extreme sashimi lover I gorged over 10 plates of tuna, yellow tail, salmon sashimi, some raw maguro with duno what dressing, shishamo, chwanmushi, teppanyaki, pork belly soup and lots more.

Plus endless cups of hot green tea.

Me and the BF were there for like 3 hours. We just order, ate, order, ate in repeat pattern. Out-sitting other couples at the sushi counter :)

Needless to say, we felt like rolling our way home after dinner binge.

*************************************************************************
Boxing day cum the BF's bdae:

A delish chicken/cabbage/ginger, herbal soups, tofu dinner at this restaurant called 'san zhong liang jian' (paiseh it suddenly slipped my mind what the english name if that restaurant is called).

Followed with a mini mango cake for the birthday boy.

************************************************************************

The result: A pudgey me with like ZERO appetite todae.

P/S: I got TONS of pics in my camera. Will sort them out and upload asap.

riNGiNG iN yOur EaRs

Can you hear the jingle of the very merry bells?

X'mas eve has finally arrived (too bad my workplace no half day)!

Darn.

Anyway, was outta in town (for the like 3rd time in a row!) looking for suitable gifts for the BF, his friend and myself. Managed to get mine and the friend but still in search for gifts for the BF, which unfortunately till 10 plus was still fruitless.

Town was very much alive with bustling crowd, xmas lights and music way past 10pm. The malls were still brightly lit with probably (grumpy and tired) sales ppl.

I can forsee the immense sea of ppl in town today. No way am I going down town AGAIN.

Still, the BF's gifts are still not fulfilled sooo...

(yeah, may still need to show my face in town today after work~)

Oh, bring out the camera coz it's time to be snappy happy. The whole of Orchard Road was lit up not just by the xmas lights but the shutterbugs of camera of every shape, size and model. Along the streets, lamposts and overhead bridges.

Dinner was a damn tricky affair coz EVERY foodcourt, restaurant and cafe was packed. From Mac to Food Republic to Crystal Jade, you could see hordes of hungry diners and 'vultures' standing near soon-to-be-emptied-tables.

It was like 2 hours later, before mi and the BF gave up trying to dine in Taka or Wisma and headed for Far East Plaza instead. Sheesh... was so hungry~

I think me and the BF got caught on camera for a couple of shots of some strangers. Hahahahaa...

***********************************************************

Will 6pm come sooner?

BiTe Me FeEt

Damn,

it sure feels like saturday today :)

Was out at VivoCity with the BF and the mall was packed! Wore my new Aldo flats out and they bit me. Was hobbling painfully, should have bit those shoes before I left the house.

Tahaned for like 3 hours thru 3 levels of strolling in and out of shops in the mall, before I surrendered and bought a pair of beach slippers for $3 at Watsons to slip into.

Ultimate comfort. Ultimate relief.

Slippers are so downright comfy lah.

Aaaaaahhh~

Shout out to Christel:

Happi birthday girl!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope you enjoyed ur steamboat dinner and luscious tiramisu treat with your loved ones :)

How do you Q?

How do you Q?

It is a fine Sunday sunny afternoon, no work, no school, no deadline and no homework. What a bliss. The bed looks ultra tempting. You decide to give into temptation. Hey, what's holding you back?

You slide under the comforting comforters and within seconds a gentle rush of snores emit from your room. A mischevious elf decides to play a little trick on you.

"Hoocus Poocus! Poochie poo!"

You remain soundly asleep.

Hours later....

*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*
*

The birds are singing under the bright blue and cloudless sky. Gentles crashing of the blue waves... You stir and opened your eyes...

Hmmmm... nice sandy beach with soft soft sand. Hmmmm... nice dream...

A crab sneaks up and pinches your cheek.

Ouch~ Gosh, you awake to a no-man's land (aka a tranquil but discerning deserted island in the middle of a vast blue blue blue sea).

Frantically, you stood up and pinch yourself. Ouch!

No dream. Plus, you realise the weekend's over and it's Monday and you are suppose to be at work/school.

Shite.

Then, you spy a cute lil bunny with a black stylish device in its mouth hopping up to you. The bunny drops the device gently at your feet and hops away (not before throwing a cheeky wink at you and blowing a smooch too!).

You picked up the device. And you whoop for joy coz it's the MOTO Q9H!

Your saviour! Your bridge to connecting to the rest of the world. And your entertainment device to make your trip on the island all the more enjoyable and colourful!!
Yeahhhhhhhhhh... Lets do the Q!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Logging onto the net immediately with the Windows Mobile 6.0 Operating System and Opera browsers at super quick speed (with the help of HSDPA hi-speed wireless (no cables needed!), you mass emailed colleagues/friends of your impossible situation and unknown location. To be super sure, you logged into MSN (thank goodness for MOTO Q9H pre-installed Windows Live (TM) Messenger!) and IM-ed your friends all the while using bewildered emoticons to express your anguish and helplessness (hoping your boss/colleagues/friends will not think you are just skiving or cooking up some silly excuse) and receiving sympathetic emoticons from others.

Your devlish boss then decides to pile you with work even though you are physically not in the office. Hey, who says you can't work from a no-man's land especially when you have the MOTO Q9H at hand?

Job list:
1) You need to prepare a concise powerpoint summarised from the pages of a word document boss emails to your email account

2) Edit an Excel file with lotsa mind-numbing numbers for the Accounts department

3) Unzip a PDF file to read up on materials for next week's meeting.

Is it the heat from the merciless sun or is it the tasks your incredulous unfeeling boss unloaded on you making you faint?

You decide it's the latter. Again (!) MOTO Q9 saves your dear life (and job) with the array of programmes from Word docu, pdf docu, Excel docu, Powerpoint docu which you can edit, view and unzip.

You set to work. Busy typing on the QWERTY keyboard all day till dusk sets in.

Settled, emailed and done. You take a breather and wait a minute! You have forgotten to inform your dear readers of your unimaginable predicament.

It's time to blog!

You log onto your blog and started to draft an interesting account of your story all the while taking snapshots of the sand, rocks, coconut trees, crabs and other island life around you. With a 2 mega-pixel camera, the shots were reasonably clear and bathed in rich colours. Uploaded the pics and posted them in your blog to illustrate the I-am-telling-the-truth-and-nothing-but-the-truth account.

Satisfied, you post up your entry, saved it and allow your readers to relish in every word.

The comments flooded in almost instantly. You click to view every one of the comments and spent another hour or so responding to each.

It's almost night time. *Yawn*

You are getting sleepy. Time for bed.

Tuning in the playlist in your MOTO Q9H, you are slowly lulled to deep slumberland with song after song of smooth and peaceful rhythms and beats. The sands is your bed and the skies your blanket.

A slight shadowy figure creeps up behind you. A lil tinkle of laughter sounded.

*poof*

The sun rises. Rrrrrriiiing!

You opened your eyes.

And hit the snooze button on your alarm clock.

Snooze button? Alarm clock?

You jumped up and opened your eyes WIDE.

You are back at home!

Whoopeeeeeeeeeeeeee~

And double whooopeeeeeeeeee coz the lil elf left the MOTO Q9H as a x'mas gift for you!

How do you Q?

Log onto MOTO Q9H and discover the joy of owning Q9H and the cute lil bunny!

ShOpPing MaRtS

I love to browse and hang out at hypermarts or supermarkets.

Such a wonderful therapy to soothe the soul, load up on nourishing and junk food and to discover some of the most amazing and absurb household products. Best if accompanied by a fellow supermart/hypermart shopper.

Whirl thru, laugh, scream, mouth agap or shriek as you and pal thru aisle after aisle. With sooooooooo much on offer at the marts from never-ending snacks, drinks, sauces, instant mee and even electronic products, time never flew by so fast.

Plus the place's air-conditioned without the fishy smell and wet slippery floors.

Lovely lovely~

I loved getting my roasted or honey grilled chicken from Carrefour, Ben & Jerry's plus assorted snacks from NTUC, milk/juice from Shop N Save.

If only the queues can move a lil faster... :p

25 YeARs of DrAMa

Sorrie for the lack of updates...

Mon: was on mc

Tues: piled high up with work to wring some time out to blog

Caught the 25 years of drama Mediacorp last Sunday and I was instantly transported to the early 90s.

Dramas of yesteryear such as:

Good Morning Teacher

Wok of Life

Golden Pillow (classic scene of the 3 actors - Alex Man, Zoe Tay and Fann Wong mock-listening to a rock)

Xin Ah Lang (duno chinese title)

Gan Gan Zuo Ge Kai Xin Ren (a sitcom starring Chew Chor Meng as Ah B)

Shuang Tian Zi Zun (Gambling drama starring Li Nan Xing and Zoe Tay)

and lots more...

Grew up on a staple of CH8 dramas you see (mum was a fan).

I could identify, pin point and rem many of these drama serials plus I love many many of the drama theme songs too.

Used to be able to sit through like 3 hours of drama watching ;p

But as I grew older, this 'hobby' of mine has dwindled. Count myself li hai if I can sit thru an hour.

Okay, I am falling asleep le. Need a hot drink.

P/s: go watch the golden compass. It's worth your money!

*plonk head on table...zzzzzzz*

RaGe

WTF.

What's up with these perverted perverts??????

Read in the news that another 30 odd year old man RAPED an 8 yr old girl.

Raped???? An 8 yr old girl??????????

*faint*

With cases like Huang Nan and other tragic instances of very young kids ( both boys and girls) and even babies (!!), someone should castrate these scums on earth and subject them to eternal hell!!!!!!!

SinGaPore DesigN fEsTivAL 2007

Yeah... that's me outside the Parliament House on Sat for the Singapore Design Festival. Just had to take a pic with that black mock box on the stairs :) oh, my top matched the box too :p

The BIG RED banners hung outside.

This particular design is cute!

And... it was printed on the free goodie bag every visitor who popped by received!

Inside the array of exhibits include a design comp for the structural rehaul of the parliament house. Including this:

And this:

On the whole a pretty tranquil place to gain some insights and mouth agap at the amazing designs and architectural ideas that some very talented ppl had painstakingly come up with.

Quick, the festival ends on the 8 Dec! And it's free too :)

SweEt SwEeT dIng DanG

Ding dang! Ding dang!

Yes, the sweet tinkling sounds of not the recess bell, not the ice cream man but the saccharine chewy soft ding dang candy man! Often sighted (or should I say heard) in the afternoon making his heavenly rounds the neighbourhood on his trusty bicycle.
I would ofter drop whatever I am doing, rush up to my parents and start ona gibberish frenzy/pleading for them to spare a dollar and to allow me to buy a pack. My ever obliging parents would never fail to indulge me in my sweet treat (or maybe they also want to grab of bite of it too?) and pass me the coveted golden coin - my passport to a pack of the ding dang candy.
Clutching gold in my hand, I would wait impatiently for the lift before running in the direction of the candy seller and watch excitedly as he chip and ding dang away at the hard yet chewy pure snowy white sweet.
Yum yum!
Such sweet memories literally.

The powdery chewy soft candy priced cheapy at a dollar a pack is now a rare sight. No longer do I hear the sweet jingle of the candy seller or taste a slice of melti-ish paradise upon my tastebuds. Or even lick the white powder off my fingers.

Hence imagine my delight when I tread on the island shores of Sentosa - Yesterday Once More held at the cultural rich Images of Singapore and saw this:

Goodness... I wanted to yelp and jump for joy!
It's the ding dang candy woman! Just look at the crowd... What do you see? Excited students/children and adults crowding round for a visual feast of the nifty moves this lady is executing while making the candy.
All those memories just came flooding back. A dying trade steeped in rich history that never fails to put a smile to my face...
Do you remember the ding dang candy seller?

cOuLD yOu SpaRE a ShILLiNg?

The other side of Singapore...

With all the festive shoppers bustling along the streets busy flinging money to buy pressies, Xmas decor and food, the BF I noticed that recently there seems to be alot of beggars begging for money along the whole stretch of Orchard Road.

We spied a beggar along the pavement outside Ngee Ann city, along Lido to Delfi Orchard, along Paragon to Lucky Plaza and in the underpass from orchard station to Lido. One of them even had a young child with her.

*sigh*

The BF was wondering if there's an organisation behind it. I had a hunch that is possible. It chills the heart especially to see the young child with her mother (or grandma?) begging along the affluent streets of Orchard.

Although it seems that Singapore is well on her way to being an affluent country with rising living standards, many have fallen into absolute poverty with no means to catch up or survive. The unseen and neglected under the facade of prosperity and equality.

Take a look around. Do you see them?
