KiTtY

We got new visitor in our office since ydae.

Presenting...

A lil light ginger kitty (probably less than 2 mths old) whom my colleagued picked up. This lil one was abandoned by her parents and was found cuddling in one corner pitifully in the morning.

A lil timid but attention seeking, she is contented to be wrapped ala popiah style in a sweater to snooze on ur lap. Put her in the pet taxi and she starts getting vocal :P
But still she is awesomely adorable... Her head is smaller den my fist! Awww~

Do ThE sUmS

Maths~

Hated the subject since my academic years was initiated in K1. I have honestly zlich affinity for figures. Maths had always been my weakest subject all the way up to my junior college days (the horrors of Maths C!) often failing my papers till exam time.

Often going bonkers over algebra (wth is it for????), A Maths and Math C. It is amazing how I chose to go up a level for Maths when I loathed it so much. My 10-yr series for O and A levels have been thumbed thru and written/scrawled everywhere till it resembled a battered manuscript relic from World War II.

Mum even got mi a tutor in Sec 2 for the 2nd half of the semester coz my grades were in red alert. Hahaha~ Still rem my tutor was a damn nice lady who enlightened mi alot alot alot.

Hence it's damn ironic that I enjoy tutoring my students in Maths more than the other subjects say English or Science.

Maybe I do have some sort of affinity with the numerical subject afterall.

Impossibly frustrating.

Impossible question number 1:

Candle A takes 10 hours to burn and Candle B takes 5 hours to burn. If both Candle A and Candle B are of the same height, how long will it take for Candle A to be thrice the height of Candle B?

Any kind soul can enlighten mi?

北京欢迎你!

That's the slogan for China's adopting for the Beijing Olympics 2008. Along with it came 5 cute mascots decked in a different colour to represent each chinese character with their names bearing resemblance to each character.

For example: bei bei, jing jing, huan huan, ying ying and ni ni.

My bf's fren's gf was away in Beijing a few wks ago and see what she brought back for mi. The bf's dad was also there and concidentally both of them brought back the same olympic character hahahaa

Say hello to ni ni :D

OverAcTiVe CiTIzEn JourNoS

Citizen Journalism.

Over-active to the extent of being ignorantly kpo.

I was looking thru Stomp's Singapore Seen section and am very 'amused' to see some photos taken of unsuspecting victims being abused for no rhyme or reason.

You see pics of couples engaging in a harmless kiss gets splashed on and labelled as excessive PDA (Public Display of Affection), people putting their bags on chairs next to them in a food courts gets labelled as inconsiderate (please lah, we all do that lor) and the blah blah blah.

Hello? Just a harmless kiss labelled as PDA? I can imagine if it's a overly touchy feely couple or students getting hot and heavy but a harmless parting kiss or a kiss dat last for less den 1 min can get labelled as PDA? What the world is coming too???????

Goodness, and the foodcourt issue of bags placed on the seat beside you. Is the photo-taker such a saint that he/she never does dat? Do you have to snap every little action and put it on the web to shame ppl? Whoa lau, maybe one fine day the bo-liao ones will see their own face plastered on the web for doing a mundane stuff. *rolls eyes*

With everyone armed with camera snappy mobile, some reali bo-liao-nothing-to-do-asses are taking pics at their every whim and fancy and critising people during their free time.

*SIGH*

Citizen Journalism is getting a tad out of hand.

ChOki & nuTeLLa

Childhood sweet sweet snacks...

Look what I found!
This choc in a stick thingy called 'Choki' and small individually packed Nutella!!!!!!!!
Costing onli like $1 for a pack for 5 choc sticks in Choki and like 50 cents for a small pkt of nutella, these 2 were my fave choc snacks when I was 12 years and younger from the provision shop across my block.

Close up shot of Choki and it's koala-bear-look-alike mascot.

I rem sucking (okay, sounds a lil wrong here) the soft choc out of the indivdual sticks while watching cartoons. Tried the choc again after more than a decade, love the memories it brought back but seriously the choc doesn't seem to taste as nice as before :(

Want a scoop of smooth smooth nutella?
Nutella still taste as great as ever! I love eating it on it's own or straight out of the bottle! (Having it spread over bread like a lil dry leh). Yum! :D

snACk OF mEMoRIeS

I uncovered some childhood snacks in a nostalagic provision shop a few days ago.

Such a surprise. I thought I would never lay eyes on those ever again, since the last time I snacked on them was when I was in primary school which as like over a decade ago (gosh! sounds so ancient).

Will upload the pics asap. :D

whAT a cHasE

My dog decidedly to squeeze pass mi thru the gates and bolted out of the home...again on Sunday.

Totally took mi by surprise and he had a 20 second headstart. My heart was pumping like mad coz I was afraid I will lose him especially if that furball runs down the stairs. I screamed his name but it fell on naughty deaf ears. Even suffered a fall along the corridor while still screaming his name -_-III like quite drama if u slowed the motion down.

After a 1 min chase, I managed to pounced on that furball when he stopped to sniff the floor infront of a neighbour's door.

Scared the shit out of mi. My legs were wobbly and my heart was in my mouth. I thought I could not breathe and the stuff from my bag had spilled out. One of my neighbours who stepped out of the lift saw mi in my mad-woman look. So malu.

Then the mum came running out coz she heard my initial screams and saw the door and gates wide opened with mi and the furball out of sight.

Suffered a scratch on my left elbow. But thankfully I did not lose him. *phew*

My fren's dog was lost on Sat, thankfully she (the dog not my friend) was found.

Such a heart popping incident.

MiLkiNG iN THE trAIn

Was taking a damn packed train from town to home ydae with the BF. We spotted a family with 2 cute toddlers around the ages of maybe 8 mths to 2 years sitting down. What attracted us was the cute looks of the tods (and the extremely low cute tank top the mum was wearing *ahem*). Both were having a fun time play-beating at each other, laughing and muttering in a foreign tongue. They look chinese but were not Singaporeans/taiwanese/hk/china.

The bf and I were very much amused and it was great entertainment on a packed and tiring ride home on the train. Then....

The mum started breastfeeding the younger tod in full view of everyone in the train
with just her fingers/handkerchief to cover her modesty. Which to me wasnt of use coz am sure those standing right up near her could see everything in full glory lah. Her hubby continued talking to her as she breastfed.

I duno it's me or what but I though it was a lil inappropriate esp she din realli cover up sufficiently while breastfeeding and u could see some men looking at her from the sly. -_-III

What's your opinion?

OrH LUat

Recently I am addicted to the oyster omelette cooked by this stall at the kopitiam a couple of blocks away from my home.

For $3 bucks a packet, i get a reasonable amount of juicy baby oysters and tender fried omelette that does not stinges on the egg portions. Plus the sourish tingly chilli is fantastic to drench all over the omelette!

I can almost smell it now~

HaPpy 43Rd BDaY!

NDP 08 Preview - 2 Aug

The uber hot hot hot day under the cloudless blue sky with the merciless sun beating down in a sea of red.
See what I mean? Brollys all out in action. This pic was taken around 330pm.

Rem the 2 cute lil girls who were sitting infront of us. This is the elder sis. She's realli pretty! This pic was taken on the sly as her mama helped to put a temp tattoo on her face.

This is her younger sis. They warmed up to us like an hr or so into the parade. The younger one was a bundle of energy!

Start of some exciting stunts high up in the sky~

The cool Black Knights and their daredevil stunts.

A heart for the nation, 'drew' by the Knights.

A parting shot of the BK. They also performed a stunt where by the 2 planes came in opposite direction and went pass each other just inches shy. *duno why make mi tink of my student's maths question*

Crowd going crazy at every possible moment.

The famed Red Lions!

Official parade commences with the Militery etc March In.

The helicopters and the Nation's Flag

The Singapore Spirit themed musical~

And of course the wonderful fireworks. Took lotsa pics and vids of it. Love the final grand golden rain-tree forest-like finale. :D

CrEam of My EyE

What's a better way to cool off in this hot weather then...

:
:
:

ICE CREAM!!!!!!

My fave indulgences recently~

Haagen Dazs's STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE! Lovely strawberry swirls with lotsa lotsa cheesecake crumble bits in it. A harmonious balance between tingly sweet and sour. Pure orgasmic~ I could finish the whole pint by myself. Only available if you buy from the Haagen Dazs boutique outlets as the pints sold at NTUC blah dun have this flavour.
My childhood sweet heart - Walls Paddle Pop Rainbow. Saaccharine butter caramel on a stick. It's the one on the left. The other 2 (lime n milk (centre) and the orange popsicle (right)) I have tried before too (the lime milk one is yummi too!) but Rainbow beats them both hands down.
Plus paddle pop rainbow is damn cheap cheap too. Like 60 - 80 cents per stick. Very cheap! I bought a whole box of 10 for only $5 plus which works out to only less den 60 cents per sticks. *whistles*

Sibeh siO ArH

The weekend was a real scorcher.

Temperatures were rising and it was sizzling hot. The BF and I were at the NDP preview on sat. Arrived at the parade ground at around 330pm and we waited in the hot sun with burning bums till 6pm before the parade kicked into action.

Why so early I hear u say? The BF was saying we got to be early to get seats closer to the front for a better view. Hence, we baked and roasted for a couple hours with a whole horde of others dressed in red. There was these 2 little girls sitting infront of us. The elder sis was damn chio lah, very sporting lil girls (esp the younger one -tink 5 yrs old) we loved turning back and giving us hi-5 with the inflatable gloves and posing for pics for our cams. Pics coming up soon.

Full story on parade details in upcoming entry. Anyway fast forward to end of parade, we waited for like 40mins to allow most of the crowd to clear before lingering in Suntec and Raffles Place area.

That was how I spent my Sat. Sunday was nua-ing time. Got stuff to clear and again the Sun was shinning damn brightly. I thought I was gg to evaporate and kept cool with sticks of Paddle Pop Rainbow and coke.

Hence, could not sleep last nite. Too much coke liao.

******************************
In other news, this stranger whom I sat beside this morning suddenly juz chat mi up (similar incident on sat by a hk tourist) and informed mi within 5 secs of opening his mouth that he is a pilot with SIA and is currently single and 44 years old. Just broke off with his 46 yr old gf 7 mths ago.

I was like WTF.

Tell mi all that for wat, 我跟你很熟meh? Crazy man. What a way to start the morning. Pilot so wat? Siao~ As if I cared. Some people juz say too much at the wrong time to the wrong person. Thank god my bus came SOON.

7tH MOnTh

The gates are open.

Today is the official start of the 7th month Hungry Ghost Festival. As the clock strikes 12, the gates of hell are opened, releasing hungry spirits/souls into the mortal world. Hence, this morning on the way to work/school you would have noticed burnt ashes, candles and offerings from the prayers held last nite as the clock strikes mid-night.

On telly and in the cinemas, horror shows are creeping upon us. People are making a point to be home earlier and opening their eyes wide wide to avoid stepping on offerings or strayed incense papers.

I still rem in my younger days, friends often told mi not to carry jing-a-ling stuff as the tinkling sounds will attract spirits, do not cut fingernails after mid-night, do not turn or respond to strange voices calling out etc etc. Not to mention movies like The Eye etc, making a lasting impression with that Lift scene. *shudder*

Think I will make sure my dog sleeps with mi everynight for this whole month.
