The National Musuem...

....was there on Sat with the BF to get a tour on the History of Singapore and we were pretty excited about it. But sadly, it wasn't as gd as we had thought.

We started off with this device which you had to punch in numbers that you see on the floor when you enter different parts of the tour to give a more indepth description visually and in audio format. It was interesting initially but it got a lil tiring to look down constantly and the information at times was a lil too long and one would have their attention diverted to some other artifect that is so not relevant to what the audio was saying. *SIGH* We took about 2 hrs to tour the place and at the end of it I realised I did not exactly learn much from it *sad*

I walked out of the tour a lil exhausted. Tix are at S$10 per adult. Peeps with the Passion Card can enjoy 50% off.

We then proceeded for a free tour of the other parts of the musuem pertaining to Fashion, Food etc (coz it's after 6pm). And frankly, those were much much much more interesting.

Overall it was a disappointment. Except I was pretty blown away by the swaying candle lights (red) above a part of the ceiling and this beautiful spiral staircase that leads to the museum attic. Rumours had that it was haunted!

Spend the whole of Sun at home coz I was sick :(

And now it's Mon and tml's a public hols! Yesh!

Am trying to book tix for spiderman 3 (yesh, I know it a lil too late) and the hot booking server is soooooooo not loading!

Aaaaaaaaaargggh~

Bad habits...

Yeah, and they can be helluva hard to break too.

It's surpising how a bad habit can be so addictive.

Biting nails

I used to love biting my nails since I was a kiddo. I have no idea why too. It's not cause they taste like sweets or chocs, neither am I starved kid but I jus love to chew and bite for no rhyme or reason.

I still rem of this particular story in an Enid Blyton book on how a girl who loves biting her nails was invited to a fairy party and while all the other kids got to eat delicious edible cakes and stuff she was told to only eat hard iron nails. The fairies had observed how much she love eating her nails and since they could not find any nails such as the ones on her fingers, they served her iron metal ones. Eeeek!

Mum used to show me reports of kids and adults who chew their nails down to the raw flesh in a bid to scare me into halting my bad chewing habit. I was terrified of the image but I just could not control my itching teeth. Especially when I am faced with a tricky-head-scratching maths prob. Damn it. I am like so never going to have nice long feminine nails or so I thought.

Then as time goes by, my addiction to nail biting wore off. It was like one fine day, I look at my nails and it suddenly dawn on me that I had bitten/nibble/chew em for eons. Gosh, it was an enlightening experience :p

But I still do not grow em long coz the idea of dirt in em does not agree with me. I keep em short and neat till now. Some ladies are great with their nails keeping em so long and beautiful with all the manicure and clean too. Take my hat off em. :)

Lazy-fat-ass-bus-hopping-one-stop-away-mrt-station

Confused? Haha...When I was a student, my concession pass is the bus stamp type where u get unlimited bus rides everyday. So lard ass me decided to make full use of it by taking the bus to and back the mrt station (which is just one stop/5 mins walk) from my place. That gone on for the whole of my academic years and before I knew it I became a real lazy person. The 5 min walk to mrt station (at that time) was like 2.4km run to me.

Then, when I graduated and no more unlimited bus rides pass, I had no choice but to walk to and fro the mrt station. Unless I want to spend an additional $24 a mth (ouch!). Hence, I discovered overtime that hey, it isn't too bad afterall. The mrt station aint too far :)

Leaving the lights on

My mum screams at my bro and me if we leave the lights/telly on when no one is using em. Yesh, that is damn wasteful, not earth friendly and very damaging to the wallet. But I guess when we were younger we didn't really reaslise it and plainly felt that mum will switch em off. But as we got older, the screaming got lesser. Now we are pretty much operated to off the lights whenever we do not use em. That mum is screaming at us to keep it on coz she will be going in to the toilet/room but our automated fingers will just switch it off :p

Do you have a bad habit?

eYeS oN tHe TuBe

I have been watching youtube...

And I am watching more of it than the telly sitting at home in my living room haha...

Cow and Chicken.
Yesh, a very lame but funny cartoon on Cartoon Network. I just love this! For some weird reason this chicken (older bro) and cow (younger sis) sibling pair together with their upper-body-less parents and boneless chicken (cousin) make a very rib tickling and entertaining cartoon. But of course some people hate it too bits.
This cartoon used to be show on Kids Central eons ago but was later discontinued and the fact I have no SCV at home means I could not watch it no longer till hey presto Youtube arrived into my life. *grins*
JD (Janice Dickinson) Modelling Agency
Currently also on local telly in its first season, the self-proclamied 'The world's 1st supermodel' reality show got me hooked. I have *proud* watched all season 1 and season 2 series. Loving her very bitchy ways and loud attitude. I want season 3!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Tyra Banks show
Again, on local telly but due to the bad timing, I am always unable to catch it. So i get my fix on youtube. Lovely, talkshow! Cheers to tyra. I always thought she's a beautiful model when I first saw her modelling for Cover Girl over 10 yrs ago. I love her forehead *grins*
Anyway, I am now veri pissed off with a particular yahoo auction seller who did not keep her word... *roar*

BoOkIsH

Goodness...

I am on a book spree recently.

Just got my hands on the thick cover novel collection (Rage, The Shinning and Salem's Lot) by Stephen King at Borders. The book is as thick as a dictionary I tell you. But I can't resist losing myself in the twisted, chilling and seductive horror world by the master of horror. I love his works.

Am still reading the previous Bachman Books by him and am into the second story in it. Just finished 'A Long Walk' which left me physically tired and spooked.

Was at Causeway Point ydae after to meet the BF for dinner and chat. Stepped into Popular Bookstore and my eyes fell upon the soft green paperback covers of classics by Penguin Books. A steal at $4.70 per book, I picked up Edgar Allen Poe's Selected Tales. Each indiv story is of chilling and thrilling nature. Just gotta have it.

Now, I just need lotsa lotsa time and some peace and quiet to digest and lose myself in the world created by these geniuses of the craft :)

We Ate ThaT?

Unhealthy...

Yes, that is what I define some of my eating habits when I was still a student.

Met up with HT last fri and we had a laughing fit over the stuff we ate during our 1st 3 mths in JC. Looking back, it is damn ridiculous and nauseating that we actually ate

FLAKY CURRY PUFFS and/or PACKET OF FRIES WASHED DOWN WITH COLD MILO

almost everyday during our break time.

OMG!

I know u muz be thinking &%$@! is wrong with us?

But seriously, at that time those hot piping flaky curry puffs and ice cold choc-yummi milo were like freaky irresistible! We just had to have them everytime during break time. Making a beeline for the stores and grabbing our puffs and milo to the stadium gallery to makan and gossip. Plus the canteen's really packed so have meals on plates and bowls were out. Being juniors in the school at that time, and faced with intimdating seniors we rather retreat to somewhere less noisy, stuffy and more peaceful.

It' s a wonder we din grow sick of the puffs and milo but after we got into the groove of our new JC and entered our senior yr, the puffs and milo took a backseat.

Even during secondary school times and Uni, I am very much put off by the crowds, long snaking queues and packed till the brim tables during recess and break times that I usually skip it (hence the gastric blues), packed something portable like salad or sandwiches.

I hate numbing, OTT crowds. It irks me deep down.

Really.

kNeE & bRoLLy wReCkED

I went down on my knee yesterday

... outside Paragon in town. Yesh not to propose to my BF or anything but because I slip.

I was happily trottering about in my golden mphosis flats and slipped. The ground was still slippery after downpour (which also wrecked the blue foldable brolly of mine while my bf and I were using it to shield from the rain and wind) and before I know it my left knee hit the grill cover of the drains by the side of the walkway along Paragon.

*ouch*

Would have been worse if my BF wasn't by my side gripping my hand tight. I could have been on all fours with a bruised butt to compliment the bruised knee. Thanks dear.

So now my knee is blue-black. There are approx 3 patches (strips!) of blue black on my knee which may highly possibly merge into 1 soon!

Thank god most of time yours truly is in jeans so the public is spared from the disgusting knee of mine. Hope it heals soon.

*ouch ouch ouch*

I need a good stretch...

My shoulders are aching from hunching up too long while staring at the comp from my desk.
My legs are stiffing up.
My back is all tensed and achy.
My neck's oso stiff.
I realli do need a good relaxing streeeeeeeeeeetch~
But I can't do it in the office from the desk unless I wanna risk looking an idiot.
Shucks, the BF is off to Batam for a company teambuilding event and guess what?
He is going to get an ultra ache relieving, tension lifting massage.

dRiNk Up

My instant drinks...

Recently, I got hooked to these 2 varieties of instant drinks from Gold Kili.

Red date longan honey tea

and

Osmanthus green tea.

Lovely hot drinks.

The red date longan tea was a chance encounter when I browsing at the Liberty Mkt at Raffles City one fine day after work while waiting for my BF. I saw the delicious sweet looking red date on the packaging and could not help picking it up. I thought the ingredient combination sounded real good so I bought a pack to try.

And I love it! The taste is sweet and has this pretty authentic longan taste as though real fresh longans were swimmingly plumply in your cup. For those who do not like it too sweet can mix it with a full cup of hot water if not 3/4 cup full will suffice. I think it retails like 3 plus for a pkt of 20 sachets.

As for the Osmanthus green tea, I was introduced to it by my colleague who sang praises of it light sweet and refreshing taste. And I gotta agree. I got mine from J8'S NTUC for 4.70 for pkt of 20. Am nursing a cup now on my deak. mmmmmm~

It's a real nice change from my coffee and teh addiction... *grins*
*I mus get the pics up...darn owe a fair bit of pics on my blog. Getting a new cam soon so hang on guys!

nEsT

There's this lil bird's nest along the pathway to my office...

Am not sure what type of birds but the mother bird is yellow in colour and small in size.

The nest had actually dropped from somewhere and some kindhearted souls had repaired it and hung it on top of the tree. So nice of them if not the poor chicks would have died. So cute (although I din reali see em clearly)!

It was raining heavily earlier on and my colleague was worried that chicks will drown or something so we braved ourselves and went up to the unit nearest to the nest and knocked on their. The man who saved the nest helped us to tie a string to pull the branch slightly nearer so that the nest will be sheltered from the rain.

It feels so nice. I hope the chicks will grow up and learn to fly soon!

Sink your teeth into the NEW Ultra Thin & Crispy Pizza from Pizza Hut!

Do you belong to the pizaa-eating type who polishes off your slice of pizza with relish but leaves the thick dough at the side untouched. I do. Why? Because the dough is like damn thick and takes up too much space in my tummy. So a typical meal of pizzas usually results in stacked up uneaten laters of dough on my white plate splattered with stray olives and what's not.

But hey, Pizza Hut has answered my prayers with THIS new breed of paper thin( thinner and slimmer than the latest mobile phone) pizza crust.

Eeekkk---so thick crust!

Aaaaaaaaa.... I like!
[will try to upload a pic asap]
Anyway, my colleagues and I ordered a Haiwaiian crispy thin pizza and the 3 of us love it so much we are going to bring our other halves to try it asap. Am already nagging at the BF to have it for dinner. I can eat the regular one all by myself!
Plus, if you the ST yesterday, there's the discount vouchers for the pizza. 25% off! Which works out to only 11plus SGD! I am a happy pizza lover...
We also had the chicken meatballs doused in tomato and cheese and it was on 30% off (also utilising the coupons!). So yummi. I want more of it~
Go try it!

SoCiaL iSsUe -mOrE tHaN juSt 2 WorDs

“Social Issue/s” -More than just 2 words

Scenario 1: When you meet someone in the lift whom you know is staying in the same block as you but have never exchanged words before, do you

A. Act busy by rummaging through your bag for keys and what’s not to avoid eye contact.

B. Start air-talking into your mobile to halt any possible conversation.

C. Plaster a smile on your face and exchange a couple of casual banter with him/her.

D. Immediate adoption of an ‘I’m anti-social’ expression written all over your face and prays hard the lift reaches your floor pronto.

Scenario 2: You are on your way home from work. Half dead and can’t wait to pop in for a warm shower when you see a fellow neighbour treading towards the same lift landing as you. Do you

A. Decide to take the other lift that is further away from your unit.

B. Make a 360 degrees turn to stall for time.

C. Walk up and board the lift with your neighbour. He/she won’t eat me up what!

D. Walk to your mailbox, open it in slow motion and taking your own sweet time to sieve through the junk mail to allow ample time for the lift to bring your neighbour up first.

Scenario 3: Your neighbour knocks on your door. You have no idea what he/she wants from you. Do you

A. Pretend no one’s home and turn off all audio equipment at lightning speed.

B. Open the door and talk to him/her through the barely visible space.

C. Open the door wide and see what he/she has to say.

D. Open the door wide and put on a Freddy Kruger mask in a bid to scare him/her away and never to knock on your door again forever.

Scenario 4: You have lived in this block of flat for over 20 years. Have you

A. Spoken to at least one of your neighbours who share the same common corridor as you?

B. Spoken to most of your neighbours or at least smiled at those who share the same common corridor as you?

C. Been chummy with almost all the people staying in your block with the regular ‘Auntie’ and ‘Uncle’ greetings.

D. Never spoke or smiled at anyone in your block before. They never spoke or smiled to you first, so why should you?

Evaluation:

If most of your answers are

A: You are quiet neighbour likened to a harmless brown mouse. You view your neighbours like the stray cats in your neighbourhood. Minimal contact is preferred.

B: You are a cautious neighbour who thinks your neighbours are like the domestic lizards sticking to the ceiling in your flat. They can be quite a pest at times with all the inconsiderate droppings everywhere but are also useful at times for eating up the bloodsuckers.

C: You are the friendly neighbour who views all living things who walk on 2 legs as friends. You go all the way out to make them happy just like an affectionate puppy with a waggy tail.

D: Who in the world invent neighbours?! If you had your way, you would crush them all like cockroaches!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the day and age where all of us mere mortals who earn just enough to feed our shopping/gadget addictions, 3 warm (high in cholesterol and fatty!) meals, and the sky high property prices, are sheltered from the elements of the weather in our HDB flats (which are not exactly very cheap too).

The upside?

They are a tad cheaper than landed residences or condos.

The downside?

You have to tolerate inconsiderate neighbours living upstairs who drag their furniture (or dead bodies!) on a daily basis, irritating kiddos who play lift pranks by making your lift stop at every level when you are in a hurry or the hum sump ah peks loitering around and visually molesting you every time you run errands in your tee and shorts to the nearby provision shops.

Yes. Those are your neighbours. The good, the bad and the ugly all living in the same block, sharing the same corridor, the same lift, the same void deck and staircases. I can almost see you nodding your head vigorously and rolling at your eyes at some not very pleasant run-ins you had with them.

Is it for these same reasons that our daily interaction with them is kept to an almost inexistent level? Nowadays, almost all the door to each unit is kept closed. Each lift encounter is silent and we feigned ignorance when meet them or by pass them along the way to the market.

No longer do we feed each other with our home cooked specialties, invite one another to our flats for chats, play with other kiddos or even twitch a muscle to smile. We actually bother to frown instead which actually uses more muscles to muster compared to a smile.

So does that mean we have lost our skills to socialise?

In my opinion,
YES!

Be it at our ‘friendly’ neighbourhood or the workplace or academic institutions. We only socialise because we have to and not because we want to. We socialise with our colleagues because we need their help when it comes to work. We socialise in school for the same reasons to gain help in school work and projects. No one wants to be the loner with no friends. In fact, we are all ‘socialising’ to ‘use one another’.

Am not being a pessimist and I do believe the friends I have know (and you too) for over 10 years are real true ones whom I befriended because I like them with no strings attached.

But sad to say, our ‘true-blue with no maliciousness included’ social skills take a sharp dip as we get older.

It is now a social issue that we no longer socialise or only socialise on a superficial manner.

Just ask yourself, how many of the friends you befriended in your primary, secondary, JC, Poly or Uni are still in frequent contact since you guys have parted ways? How many ex-colleagues do you still chat on msn or meet-up to rant at the ups and downs of working life? How many neighbours do you actually talk for more than 10 minutes a day for more than 3 days a week?

Not many, I bet.

Social issue = the warped way we (no longer) socialise

Can this ever be tackled?

A: Throw away all inhabitations and start talking to all your neighbours, colleagues, ex colleagues and long-lost friends like you known them for years.

B: Brainwash yourself that everyone is harmless with no ulterior motives.

C: Be in denial that there is no such problem or nonsense.

D: I don’t know.

Frankly, I chose option D. No amount of interference from higher authorities, corrective punishments or fines can rectify this. Matters concerning the greedy, lusty, fickle and selfish man is the most difficult to uproot.

FoOdiE RaNts

Got wind from my mum that not only the hawker centre will be closed for 10 months, the market just behind it will also be closed FOR THE SAME PERIOD OF TIME...

I wonder if the hawkers are like eating, breathing and drinking air now..Coz so far, have not been informed if they have moved to a temp place to sell their yummlicious food. By right, they should have a temp place built because 10 months is a damn long time not be bringing in bacon home!

How will some of the (maybe) not-so-well-to-do hawkers survive? I suspect if there's really no temp place for them, many may have looked to elsewhere to sell their makan which spells a drought on good food stalls in tomato land. I am so afraid my fave hokkien mee will grow legs and run to a distant estate forever :(

------------------------------------------------------

Just finished wolfing down my 6-inch turkey breast subway wichie overflowing with crisp lettuce, tomato slices, tender turkey breast ham, tangy honey mustard, sourish prickles and the works tucked into a sweet and toasted honey oat loaf... Heavenly...

Plus there's a choco chip cookie that is filled with half melted chips. Washed down with sparkling coke... AaaaaAaaaaaa.... *burp* Excuse me~

-------------------------------------------------------

Okie, back to work for now...

Misses to all my friends and the BF :)

10 mOnThS in HiBeRnAtiOn

I am so lost for words...

The AMK hawker centre which boasts of very yummi and soupy mee soto, slurply hokkien mee, great prawnish and thick broth of prawn mee soup, wet and smooth Ipoh hor fun, tender tau huay, grilled till perfection satay, dark soya sauce and sinful char kway tiao is going to be...

....CLOSED FOR 10 FREAKING MONTHS!

For what I hear you say? For some BLOODY renovations!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!! No hokkien mee for 10 months?????????

How will I survive? The hokkien mee there is like the best in Singapore!!! *sob*

Why 10 months? WHY? WHY? WHY?

I was forced to face the cold, harsh and starving reality when confirmed the facts with the stern sign informing all makan lovers of the awful truth... 10 Months? I scoffed at this when my neighbour told me. I thought she had misheard the information. More like 10 weeks or maybe 3 months than freaking 10 LONG months.

Gosh, I was soooooooo wrong.

She heard it right and I was WRONG...

*WAILS*

PiGgiSh

Why do I feel as if I had not slept a wink for the past 3 days???

It was a long weekend but I feel as tired and lethargic as if the holiday break never happened...

Goodness, I had an extra hour or more sleep every morning in contrast to the usual weekdays yet my eyes are strained and bluging like a goldfish. I just feel like tumbling my head on my desk and snooze till 6pm.

WTH!

Coupled with the fact that me and my BF actually gorged ourselves till our tummy almost exploded did not help. Was forcing slices of very sinful Jermaican Jerk Chicken pizza, huge ass vanilla sundae at CPK yesterday and a couple of hours earlier was having a plate scissors curry rice at Bugis. Served us right for being so greedy and inflicted with bloated tummies and a stubborn roll of fat sitting comfortable on our waistlines -_-III

How am I going to banish it?????

Really feel like dozing off ZzzzzzzzZzzzzzz~

------------------------------------------------------

Met up the girls aka HT and SY on thurs for dinner at Dian Xiao Er at AMK Hub. Was the first time I dined there and we had yummi lotus root and black chicken soup. Damn nice. The herbal roast duck, fried tofu and braised mushrooms and brocoli was also pretty good.

We also did a spot of shopping there and there's this very cute shop which sells comfy and relaxed apparel at affordable prices. The shop also sells very brightly coloured keychains and bookmarks. Was so tempted to get a keychain for only 2.50 buckeroos!

Thanks to SY for the cute pens from HK Disneyland! :)

hAve U BeEn tO sEnTosA?

Just settled back into the air-con comforts of my office...

Was out for awhile to Sentosa for a tour of their Herb & Spice Garden and was finding my way there after my boss dropped me off at Sky Tower area. Now I know my way there and where's the Imbiah Station...

If you guys haven been to Sentosa, do make a trip there to try out the Sentosa Luge & Skyride. It's real fun and worth the $$. I have gone on it a couple of times while taking part in an Imbiah Challenge game and due to work reasons.

The luge (a go-cart which is real easy to manuevour) goes down this steep slope down to the beach area. You can choose to go real fast or just cruise leisurely along. Love it! The Skyride is similar to those ski-rides that you can go on in those countries experiencing winter except do keep your butts on the chair unless you think slipping down high heights is your idea of fun...

It's pretty reasonable too for 9 bucks for a luge and skyride combo. And they are extending the rides for night time too! Even more thrilling man~ Gotta try it.

Note: This is not an advert lah~

Shoutout: Tml's GOOD FRIDAY! nO WORK! wOOHOO!

sErviNg U

Dustbin...

Yesh, that was what my BF described himself last night when we met up at AMK Hub for a late dinner.

I wasn't feeling reali hungry and scooped like half my pepper lunch serving of rice, beef and corn onto his plate. In fact, when I am not exactly in the mood for eating or could not finish what I could eat, I will shove them onto my BF's plate :p

Hence he termed himself my dustbin... Which I gotta agree... Though I hope I wun keep shoving him my serving everytime till he becomes fat... Haha... Come to think of it, he is my saviour to lower my intake of fats and all things carbo.

So anyway, that comment of his tickled me and I guess is not uncommon for girls to shove their unfinished food to their always hungry BF. It amazes me how some guys can polish off 3 bowls of rice and still snack after that carbo overload... I will turn into an grossly overweight ogre if I eat like that...

At the same time, after so much binging they still look so athletic and trim (okie, maybe they exercised like regularly while I just slouch infont of my comp or TV). Damn it! Why is my metabolism so lagging? Urgh!

Just got back to office after lunch and am craving for B&J's strawberry cheesecake ice- creamy...

caN yOu HeAr It?

I hear thunder...

Yes, it's so bright outside yet the rumbling of thunder is so loud and clear....

Is it going to rain or are the skies getting restless?

Hmmmm.....
