RaNdOm NeWS fLaSh

Tomorrow is a public hol!

*yells in delight*

And then it will be TGIF!

*holler in joy*

Anyway, I finally retired my nokia 7210 after like almost 5 LONG YEARS. Yeah, my nokia deserves a LONG service award for sure. It is now sitting prettily in my desk enjoying it's twilight years. :p

And gotten a new phone for zero bucks which is the Samsung E760. A phone that has been out in the mkt for quite some time with motion recognition technology. Not exactly some tech forward phone with only 1.3 megapixel (who cares lah, I got a 6 megapixel cam now) but I love it and am adjusting myself to my new phone.

Thank goodness my bro's hp is a Samsung user too so I am somewhat familiar with the ways to navigate a Samsung phone. It even has a game to throw up 6 toto numbers when you shake the phone! Hahahaahahaa... My mum was VERY delighted :P
More inspirations for her.... -_-III
Met with the BF at AMK hub ydae for dinner and to be honest the hub so far has been a letdown for me. I did not really like the design of the hub though I am grateful for the extra toilets, subway, 4 seasons durian puffs, The Cathay cinema (opening soon I think) and NTUC Xtra plus the bus interchange but I do feel it is seriously lacking in something that shopping malls like Junction 8, Causeway Pt, Jurong Pt has. It's like too sparse and too *duno how to describe*.
And the aircon was down in the foodcourt such that we adjourned to the nearby S11 for meals instead coz the heat was unbearable (at least S11 got cooler fans). *sigh*

It's one of those days again...

Woke up with this weird feeling in my throat. Like an impending sore throat or something and it's making mi feel damn uncomfy. My lower back is damn 'suan' now too and I feel like sinking into a big big sofa with upapa pounding my back...AaaaaaAaaa~

Too bad I am just hallucinating (for the upapa part & big sofa).

*furiously hammering lower back*

DoN't StEp On Me

Friday's squeeze...

Gosh, Friday was a real horror squishy squashy movie for me. I went down to Orchard to meet my BF after work and since it took some quite awhile to get down to town, I took off by myself to snag some bargains while waiting.

I was in for a SHOCK.

Late night shopping (it was the last Fri of the month) + 1st day of GSS + gate to the weekend is opened = lotsa lotsa lotsa PEOPLE!

What a freaky equation!

I was so blown away by the crowd, my head was wozzy (lack of air) and my eyes were swimming. I though I would have fainted and get entangle at the mercy of stampede and not survived to tell the tale NOT.

Shaking my head to clear the muddlesness, I headed for the m)phosis outlet in ngee ann city coz they were having a 50% - 70% sale. The outlet was so damn f***ing packed. I could not move an inch and gave up looking for bargain coz I really need my oxygen.

Moved on to taka sportswear section and was really tempted to get a bodynits bikini but I thought of my roxy (and still unworn) bikini at home and decided to hold the reins on my wallet :(

Walked around aimlessly and finally the BF arrived. Further into the day, my tummy started acting up again (had been in pain during the later part of the day at the office coz my tummy gave me cramps and what's not. Had made a trip to the loo, felt better before deciding to meet the BF) and I was literally wishing I could teleport home.

BUT OF COURSE I COULD NOT.

So, I endured a close to 40 min ride back home coz I was stingy enough not pay $$$ for a cab ride that will probably end up in a jam.

By the time I got home, I just wanted to dig out my tummy and place it on my desk and sink into my bed. :p

Thank god, the pain and all subsided by Sat.

Caught Pirates 3 at GV Bishan yesterday. More of it at chummycheryl. :)

Anyone snag any great stuff at the GSS? Damn disappointed with the range of GUESS wallets on sale.

楼下楼上/ 重点情歌

I love this song. Took me some time before I found the chinese version on the net.

The cantonese one is titled: 重点情歌
The music flows much better with the lyrics in the original (cantonese version). Still, it's a pretty nice song :)

What makes you proud to be a Singaporean?

What makes you proud to be a Singaporean?

I though this was pretty apt & cute in Singapore's case :)

Frankly, I and all other Singapore born Singaporeans certaintly did not have a choice list for us to choose which country we wanted to call home. Neither did our parents. But we have grown to love this tropical island as we go along.

It is no easy journey. At times we loathe at her boring-ness. Frequently we diss how it is scorching hot thru the year while other countries experience the wonderous 4 seasons. Ocassionally we marvel at the 'Firsts' we have achieved over other more developed countries. Humans are never a contented lot.

There are things in Singapore that I am certaintly not proud of. It has been a journey of discovery to how I could proudly and honestly declare that being Singaporean is a badge that I will wear loud and clear to others.

When I was born like 24 years ago ( to be exact) in the early 1980s, the lion city was still carving a name for herself amidst all the blue eyed and bloned hair counterparts. They spoke immaculate accented English while I spoke a different kind of English peppered with 'lahs', 'mehs', 'har' and the like. I have yellow skin, black hair and black eyes.

Magazines covets the blue eyed belles on their glossy covers and Asians were probably relegated to the cover of local telly mags. So, it was natural I crave to look 'ang-moh' and neither did I think I was a pretty girl not to mention a pretty Asian Singaporean lass.

I wasn't proud of my looks, I wasn't proud of heritage hence I did not pick up local dialects such as Hokkien or Teochew that my parenty speak so fluently. In fact, this was pretty much the case among many of the pupils and in schools where English was very much the yardstick of how well and smooth you can move up the academic ladder.

Then, kiasu-ism set in. It's a common syndrome that afflicts all, your truly too. We even had a

'kiasu burger' created by the golden arches and a comic character named 'Mr Kaisu'. And it is this 'branding' that propels us into the limelight. Take a look at young kids and others snatching seats like they were gold in the MRT trains, people forming 48 hours snaking queues in advance for stuffed toys, pilling plates sky high with food during all-you-can-eat buffet even though one can stomach even a quarter of the food piled.

Gone within 60 seconds~

Greed and selfish-ness were another downfall with many selling free/complimentary NDP tixs for a price on yahoo auctions/ebay, inconsiderate toilet users who do not flush and leave their toxic mess for the next unsuspecting user, litterbugs, litterkillers etc.

There are so many things we as a Singaporean living in clean and green Singapore do not feel proud of.

BUT.

cheap and yummi food!

As I slipped my feet into my to-market slippers and trod in my neighbourhood which I grew up in, I came to love being a Singaporean. I love being an Asian, I love black hair (trying to outgrow my dyed locks of yesteryear), I love my hawker food, the wet supermarkets and Singlish too.

Although many inconsiderate people still do exists (don't they everywhere) but the pure kind and genuine acts of fellow Singaporeans made feel so proud and that the lil red dot is still a passionate pulsating heart.

Just look at all the hoo-ha of the NKF saga and Singaporeans are still donating casacading amounts to various donations. One particular charity program without all the glitz and death defying acts and prizes even managed to garner millions of dollars of donations in an evening.

Please do donate?
Volunteers both young and old taking time off during weekends and off their busy work schedule to care for the less privilieged and poor helpless strays. Fellow Singaporeans who helped to shield you when you are stranded at a bus stop in the rain, hold the door for you, utter a simple 'thank you' when you lend a hand.

These are the Singaporean acts displayed by Singaporeans in Singapore that make me smile. The more simpler and ordinary they are, the more it touches the heart and makes me feel oh-so proud.

PCK's iconic yellow boots

Singapore's 2 best loved reel families

Heck I even adore local sitcoms like 'Phua Chu Kang' and 'Under One Roof' where the character speak singlish in a very familiar Asian background. I buy local mags too with my fave local celebs on the cover. In fact many Singaporean singers and actors have begun to make waves in faraway lands like USA, Taiwan etc. It is commendable and no mean feat. It is heartening to know that although some local celebs received flake from Singaporean, many on the other hand are much adored too.

*THUMP THUMP*

The lil red dot has a heart. And I wear it on my sleeve wherever I go, whatever I do. Always.

The fACe OF HoNeSTy

Honesty...

To be or not to be?

Met up with the BF for dinner and some quality aka makan and chit chat time yesterday after work. Had dinner at Genki Sushi after some debative session over what to eat *wink at BF).

It was the FIRST TIME both of us dine at Genki. Pretty nice place which was refreshingly quiet and peaceful due to a weekday. The BF had a chicken don and I had an omelette soba. Not bad and the quantity was just right for me since I wasn't exactly veri hungry.

We also had green tea which was green tea powder stored in a small black container which you can scoop with a tiny spoon to dissolve in your piping hot cup of water. Totally different from Sakae Sushi's green tea bag. And some octupus sushi and roe. :)

After filling our tummies, we proceeded to pay our bill to realise the cashier had left out the charge for my soba. So we returned to inform her. Both the BF and I felt pretty good, I guess we did not want to swallow a meal free just because the cashier overlooked (though its not our fault but...).

Frankly there have been times whereby we have been dishonest i.e. not returning excess change, lying to loved ones etc etc... And the aftermath feelings do not make one feel good.

Still we all lie at times don't we? Just be sure it does not snowball to something that's outta control.

P/s: Thanks to Christel for the goodies from the land of the rising sun. Felt like X'mas came early :p

hOw StiCky ARe YoU?

Stick it on~ :p Bored day today.

How sticky are you?

1) When your other half tells you he/she is meeting his/her same gender pals for dinner this saturday you,

A) Smiles and say 'Have fun dahling' but stalks him from afar without him/her knowing.

B) Gives him/her a hug and says 'Sure, have a good time' and start thinking how to spend some quality time with yourself.

C) Demand, he/she has to bring you along. You don't give a damn if everyone is NOT supposed to bring their other halves to the gathering.

D) Sulk but you are not letting him/her go without spending a couple of hours with your FIRST.

E) Let him/her go without you but smses him every few minutes to make sure he/she does not forget you even though you are not physically there.

2) You spend your money

A) Mostly on yourself

B) No idea. You do not keep count.

C) All or 99.9% of it on your other half

D) Mostly on yourself but you do splash out like ALOT when it's a special occasion for him/her.

E) On him/her with inexpensive gifts every now and then. It probably takes up like 20% of your salary every month.

3) When you go shopping, you ask

A) Your sibling/s

B) Your girl/guy pals out or whoever's free

C) Your other half.

D) Your parent/s

E) Your imaginary friend since young

4. You hate

A) Being pushed over.

B) Getting paper cuts, the sight of blood pales you.

C) When people end things with no closure.

D) Being ripped off.

E) To hide your ability.

5) Marriage to you is

A) To tell the world you are not single, ugly or desperate

B) Share your live with someone you love

C) You can tie a man/woman down forever

D) To buy a flat and procreate.

Ta dah....Revealing relevations!

If most of your answers are A:

You are a Glue. Although sticky at times, you are much toned down version compared to Super Glue. You feel inferior at times but understand that your other half chose you for a reason. You love him and is able to see the difference between over-reliance and support.

If most of your answers are B:

You are a Post-it. You are the most balanced other half. You know when to be there and when to give him/her their personal space. The ideal BF/GF unless your other half is a Super Glue.

If most of your answers are C:

You are *horrors* Super Glue. You can't live without your other half. You breathe the air he/she breathes and walks the ground he/she walks till the point of being possessive. You forgot sometimes you are a unique individual and not a shadow to your other half. Give him/her their space and give yourself time-off to discover and get in touch with yourself again. Is it love or a deeper problem like a low self esteem or social stigmas?

If most of your answers are D:

You are a Scotch Tape. You do not really stick to your other half but you do believe that you need to hear/see/talk/touch him/her everyday.

If most of your answers are E:

You are a Blu-Tack. You are the quiet and sometimes silent supporter of your other half. It may seems he/she maybe over dependent on you at times hence warranting your presence till the extent of mothering him/her.

NiteMaRes R MaDE oF tHeSe

Weird dreams...

Yesh, I have been dreaming weird and outta this world impossible dreams that are giving me the creeps, stress, giggles and outright hyena alike laughter.

Beside the really money-flying-outta-my-wallet dream I had last nite, I also dreamt of my BF in his 'new' hairstyle in the earlier segment of my dream.

I dreamt that he told me that he is going for a haircut over the phone. Then minutes later (or maybe it was seconds), he came to my place to show me his new do'. BIG MISTAKE.

He appeared in front of me with his hair done in an extremely outrageous fashion.

The front part of his hair was black and bob length (reaches about half his neck length) and the back was the nitemarish part.

IT WAS LONG, CURLY AND BLONDE!

The hair reminds me of this:

Even more luscious and longer than mine! *mock jealousy*
Anyway, I questioned him on his ridiculous hairstyle and he said he had hair extensions done.
I bellowed that it was downright ugly and he should go cut his hair and dye it black or other sane colours pronto.
HE REFUSED.
And we started to quarrel over it coz I was asking him to cut and he did not want to cut coz he thought it looks great.
Yeah... Great.
Then I woke up and felt really tired after all that quarelling in the dream :p
Could not help giggling to myself when I think back about the dream.
So funni!
My other dream occured a day or two earlier where I dreamt I was late for tuition (again!) coz I forgot all about it. Terrible. I felt so stressed out in the dream and was rushing down to my student's place even though I was already an hour past late.
GOSH. This is not the FIRST time I had such a being-late-for-tuition-and-clean-forgotten-all-about-it dream. I think it's because I think too much about tuition and my students esp now that SA1 is over and they are getting back their papers.
*stressed*

WhErE's The MoNeY

I dreamt of many shing-a-ling coins last nite.

According to old wives' tales, dreams involving bills and coins eg: you picked up spare cash on the way to work or someone returning you $$, will have you IN REALITY losing/spending money.

Damn it. Told my mum of my shing-a-ling dream last nite and she assured me that dreaming of coins will NOT result in lost of $$.

BULLSHIT.

I have to spend over a hundred buckeroos now for something that is faulty back home.

I am so poooooooor~ now... *sob*

Stupid dream.

I nEeD sOME sPiDey VoteS!

Hey guys! Do cast me a vote for my spidey article here!

Thanks!

p/s: I am the main villlain and my doggy is my accomplice in the article hahaha

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am for some unknown reason getting increasingly annoyed with people with spread their arms out to read their newspaper dailys in a train.

To be precise, a packed-till-the-brim-till-I-can-hardly-breathe train cabin.

For goodness sake, why can't they just leave their papers for later to read instead of taking up valuable breathable space in the train during the mad rush hour? Do they know how the papers flaps on other commuters face and depriving us of the already lacking fresh air and space????????

So irritating.

MemOry MusInGs

What a rainy day this morning was...

Chilling but the rain has ceased and sun's shinning outside now. Just had tuition session with one of my students yesterday living just a couple of blocks away from my home. Tutoring them and hearing her yak almost non-stop about girly stuff aka Disney Princesses, Winx Club, school, teachers and friends, I could not help smiling.

It makes me think how I was like her when I was her age. Coincidentally she is from my ala mater. My fave girly stuff included Barbie, My little Pony, Strawberry Shortcake etc. Pink and blue were my fave colours and I too had a sticker book too! Collecting stickers and exchanging them among friends were a fave school time activity.

The games we played during recess time such as hopscotch, catching, zero point are still played today. It's a memory trip that I love taking.

This particular student of mine is in Band and her CCA does sound really fun. I have always wanted to take on music but never had the chance (or I was just plain lazy to read those bean sprouty notes). I was a prefect (loved the privilege of going down early for recess but hated guarding the gates and booking my seniors when they were late) and a member of the Science Club in school. I was addicted to getting those lil metal collar badges with the blue science card :p

Gosh, can I turn the clock back?

Do visit chummycheryl to see which movie snack you are :p

Yummlicious!

WhICh ImPErFeCtIon Are YoU?

Was scrutinising my face the whole of yesterday and in awe of the numerous beauty products targeted at the imperfections of our facial skin that this fun questionaire was made up in my mind.

Do try it out in the name of fun. Hope you will have as much fun as I had while creating this. :)

Which imperfection are you?

1. You are out at the beach for a smoking hot straight 6 hours. Do you turn

a) Toasty brown just like the (ex)famed rotiboy coffee buns.
b) Red as a steamed lobster and oily
c) Black (you hate the beach) and fat (just like the expansion and contraction theories we learn in secondary school science)
d) Into a range of colours from brown to red. The sun just makes you all the more powerful.

2. When you are stressed, you

a) love to act cute although different people may perceive your 'cuteness' as ' awwww...so cute!' or 'yuck, act cute. Cute meh?'.
b) Go over the top and wanna explode in a (messy) way.
c)Take heart in group misery.
d) Wanna pop someone's bubble and make them miserable too.

3. You absolutely loathe

a) Fairness (in both sense of the word).
b) Best Pals (aka Benzoyl Peroxide) ....those are all imaginary and bulls and Sales
Assistants (Salicylic Acid) ...they shadow you everytime you walk into a store.
c) To be squeezed in crowded places and sticky tape.
d) Doctors.

4. You love

a) The sun and water!
b) People getting in contact with you. The human touch is irresistable. It makes you feel loved.
c) Dirt and wide open spaces.
d) To eat chicken!

All right, take note of your choices and scroll down to see which skin/facial imperfection you are :p

If most of your answers are a:

You are a freckle. Stubborn in nature but do show signs of fading in bullish nature when rubbed in the right way, you are an outdoorsy person who is very bubbly and fun.

If most of your answers are b:

You are a zit. You can be a hard nut to crack (pun intended) and very attention seeking till the point of irritating others at times. You can't be suppressed for long, popping up and scaring others before an important occassion/event/date is your fave practical joke.

If most of your answers are c:

You are a blackhead. The most stubborn of all, you hate to be moved out of your comfort zone and it takes helluva of tug and pull to get you uprooted. Even so, there is no guarantee you will not slide your crafty feet back to the place you were forced to leave under the nose of others.

If most of your answers are d:

You are a chicken pox scar. You like to leave your mark behind everything you do. You mark your territory and you inflict everyone once (or maybe twice) in a lifetime. Beware. You are dangerous man.

p/s: I am a freckle. Haha :p

DeMorAliSeD

I am so demoralised....

As you guys would have seen the previous blog entry that one of my entries titled 'Social Issues' was selected to be part of Youth.sg blogging contest. Well, over a number of days, different judges will comment and give scores for all the contestants.

And for today's judgement day, I kena a zero coz the the judge thinks my entry was ripped off!

It's so unfair and VERY demoralising to have faced this kind of comments!

I NEVER copied this entry from anywhere else. I WROTE it myself using my OWN brains, my OWN words and my OWN ideas. I drew the stickman pictures on a piece of A4 white black paper, took shots of it and posted the pics up MYSELF. The 'test' choices and evaluation was written by YOURS TRULY.

IT IS NOT A RIP-OFF!

p/s: would like to express my heartfelt thanks to:

christel, kenny, chunkymonkey, calvin, kaiyan, mrotaku, geraldine and jiayi

for their encouragements. Thanks guys!

ChOp iT?

I wanna go for a haircut!

The hair's getting unruly, dry as Sahara desert-ends and the colours is clinging onto the ends only. Yucks! Wanna get at least 2 inches chopped off my locks. It's get knotty and a pain to drag my comb through after a bath and mid-day.

Aaarrgh!

Even applying leave on hair moisturiser/serum on the ends are totally not working!

Sometimes I even think of going for a short sassy cut but my chubby round face just can't take it

:(

The last time I had it cut short was like in JC??????? Which was like 6 yrs ago? And short was like just shoulder length only. The real short-til-it-touches-the-back-of-my-neck-short was in Primary 1! Hahaah.. And it was because my form teacher told me to get it cut short and not coz I wanted to (don't ask me why she enforced short hair on me even though my school allows us to keep long hair in a pony tail. I had no idea man~).

Was watching ANTM Cycle 8 on youtube and I just love this short sassy crop on this contestant nameed renee. She looks so nice in short hair compared to her original long hair look. Hai~

I always think girls with sassy short crop are so ultra confident and it's easy to maintain too.

pOst LaBOUr Day UpDaTe

Spiderman 3!!!!!!

Yeah, I caught it ydae! Bf booked the tixs a day earlier on Mon and we were down at Bishan GV to catch the 820pm slot ydae. The movie was real hot hot hot! All the timings down to the late night ones were either flashing red (left onli the front rows; even those were snapped up) or grey (totally sold out)!

Heng, booked earlier for seats at the last row *phew*

The graphics were amazing and the plot was satisfying. More reviews over at chummycheryl (after lunch will blog about it :p).

It was a lovely Labour day out for me and the BF ydae. Went down to the Mac at Liang Court (our fave place to hang out and discuss stuff) till 5pm b4 hopping the bus down to Bishan for dinner at the yummlicious Kim San Leng coffeeshop's chicken rice. *drool*

Was home by 11 plus and reali zonked out. Keep on hallucinating it was a Sat ydae haha...

Back at work now and just rushed out an article. My brain cells are so dead and my fingers are cramping up.. Help!
