Technology - a dirty word?

It is a god-send to be able to just use a remote and control the electronical devices in my life without moving or heaving my bod up from my super duper comfy couch or bed. Heavenly, to be able to feel the cool breeze of the aircon upon me on the sunny tropical shores of Singapore practically everywhere.

Tech-Hungry?

Enriching to have the world's news/culture and other interesting tidbits at my fingertips. Cruising the internet highway has never been easier or faster and also cheaper. Technology has brought along many many many benefits but at the same time, it has drove many traditional and heartfelt ways and actions to extinction.

Things that I miss before technology penetrated the lives of many:

Cards, Where are the cards?
Still remember the times when we receive cute little cards during festival periods? I loved opening up the envelopes and to read the carefully hand-penned words and wishes from friends, relatives and loved ones. Something that is tangible and sweet unlike the cold e-cards that can be just sent with a click. Give me the good old cards anytime!

Mobile phones!
Yes, I have to admit that I can't do without my phone at all. It is more important to me than my wallet. Have we all become slaves to our mobiles? It has become an integral part of our lives and we will no doubt back track home should we realise that we have left the little slim fellow on the dresser. But sometimes I just wish the mobile will just vanish, bringing with it the irritating ringing tones. I just want to be uncontactable and enjoy the tranquil sounds around me. No more fustrating irresponsible mobile users in cinemas anymore...

Communication?
The good old times of being to hear each other voices over the phone. Friends and I used to spent hours gushing and gossiping over the phone. All the shrill screams and excited voices are replaced by the numerous emoticons in chat rooms and yes, I now spend hours on the internet chatting instead of on the phone. We are now sending more smses then talking on our mobiles too! And isn't it no surprise that miscommunication often results in an internet chat too?

I DO have a love-hate r/s with technology (to think I totally adore my mp3 player)...
