Stick thin, reed thin or beyond thin?
Was just casually flipping thru URBAN and cover story revolves round the extend models go to stay stick thin and how model wannabes resort to health threatening ways to lose the flab to be a top model.
Yes, it is scary. But just look at the glossy mags (which I lurve to read ironically), models featured are usually fatless and perfect in the pictures. With such 'role models' everywhere, what can the average Singaporean girl do but fantasize and work towards such 'goals'? In fact this phenomenon is not only directed to our little sunny island. It is prevalent around the world.
Even our tellies are not spared of thin, thin and even thinner actresses. Yes, they look great and slim on tv but when you see them in real life, they look even thinner! It's true as being on tv will make you look as if you packed on a couple of pounds so in a bid to telegenic, one has got to lose beyond an acceptable weight to look 'normal' and slim on telly. *horrified*
I have read of girls who smoke, drink only water for every meal etc stories to lose weight. It's both harmful and smoking only adds years to your face for god sake and not make you look beautiful...
Diet pills and laxatives are dangerous but they are commonly used as results tend to be quicker compared to exercising. I have to admit, when I was a teenager I was once lured by such 'temptation' and bought my one and only bottle of diet pills off the shelves. It did not help to lose the flab but instead made me break out. I stopped consuming it immediately. And ever since no more diet pills for me...
Plus poking bones, guitar string ribs, skeletal arms and legs are NOT attractive at all. In fact I think the girl will be painful to hug... Even if she does have an ultra slim bod achieved thru smokes, pills etc, the attractiveness just ends there. The FACE will show the ill effects such dratic measures had taken its toll (unless she piles 2 storeys high of make-up).
Think twice the next time you want to crash diet. It's not worth exchanging your health or life to look reed thin.
