Due to the new ruling introduced by the AVA with regards to pet licensing, steralisation and microchipping, many irresponsible pet owners with hearts of cold steel and hard stone have abandoned their pets islandwide.
The last report I read had a dog tied to the bus stop pole and another tied to the divider along an expressway! This is so atrocious!
Image your family tying you to a lampost pole in the middle of a busy honking expressway filled with cars, lorries and other assorted huge ass vehicles making tons of nosiy sounds. Wouldn't you freak out? And the best thing is you can't run/hide or escape from the nightmare.
How would the poor lil dog feel? It would be probably thinking what it did to deserve such treatment.
Damn.
If one can't afford to maintain a dog and give it a good home, then please do not buy, pick up or adopt a pet. What's so noble of getting one if you are just going to abandon it the next moment or when a new rule sets in?
Anyway, getting a license for your pet and avoid getting slapped with a $5000 fine will set your heart at ease. Anyway it's only $14 for a steralised male or female dog.
All these should have been considered and factored into your decision when getting a pet. Who says its cheap to own a pet in Singapore by the way? It's all part and parcel of the modern life.
It was predicted that there will be a surge in abandoned pets when the new rules set in by the AVA, and this proved true. Just hope that although we can't change the rule, pet owners or would-be-pet-owners think throughly before making a hasty decision that will affect the innocent fur babies.
