LiFT mi Up

I just dun understand...

My train passes by Tanjong Pagar on a daily basis to work and unload cabins full of working professionals at this station. What got mi crinkling my forehead was the crowd waiting for the sole lift in the station.

Accurately, it will probably take like 2 -3 trips of the lift to clear the mass of passengers waiting at the lift. When there's the option of taking the stairs or escalator which will get one out of the station in half the time, the crowd of people still prefer to wait (2x) for the lift.

Why?
